Hi all, i have a 53 plate falco lately on start up when i put it in first gear it cuts out, if i restart with the clutch in it screams at me literally,after warm up it runs fine i noticed that there was a post by guru josh about the same problem but he didnt post an answer. Please help before my baby goes bang! !!!!

Knackered side stand switch would do that. How do you mean it screams at you?

When i put it into first gear and it cuts out if i try to restart with the clutch in and in first gear it makes a horrible screaming noise when i thumb the starter after about 2 attemps it starts
also i have found by pulling the clutch lever in about 20 times while the bike is warming up it doesnt cut out when i try and put it in first

Squirt a bit of WD40 into the clutch microswitch, it could be a bit of damp and corrosion causing that problem, could be the switch is about to fail.

As for a screaming noise, could it be the sprag clutch?? They often take a beating when you have starting problems and can fail as a result of the starter being thumbed before the engine has stopped turning over from the previous start attempt.

Best guy to ask is Fusebox over on the Aprilia Performance forum, there's very little (if anything) he doesn't know about these bikes.
