Be aware that Gen 1 Oz have a ridge on the forging and a valve of that type is likely to not seal,I believe later Gen2 wheels were minus the ridge and may be ok.

I did look at fitting some myself and decided it wasn't worth the risk.

I didn't realise there was any issue with valves on the Oz's Ian, is the ridge on the inside? I left it to the fitter but maybe the valve has not been changed. What sort of valve do you need?

All I do is put these on when checking pressures and then keep them under the seat.

90 Degree tyre valve adaptor long shank motorcycles all Schrader valves x 2
MAY THE FORCE NOT SEE YOU

I seem to recall there's a central ridge in the forging between the spokes,I think it's spot faced to take the standard valve but those aftermarket Bridgeport valves have a much bigger dia body and overlap causing problems.

I know I enquired when I had my tyres changed last and the fitter said

a) the wheels have a very small valve

 b) they aren't a good idea even if they fitted, something to do with centrifugal force causing leakage or something like that, not the first tyre specialist I've heard say that either.

He gave me one of those screw on 90o adapters instead for when I needed to inflate them.

Ah, I understand now, I'll check my wheels next time in the garage and have a look. Good to be aware of though. Thumbs Up

Take the 90deg walve to any decent tyre place and get some more robust "O" rings of the same O/D
This will solve your leakage problems

"O" ring size ....... O/D 12.3mm , I/D 6.5 MM , 3.1mm thick
It's a firm fit as you'd expect sliding over 7.4mm body

If you want photos pm your email addy, I can't copy n paste the pics I took

Shocked   FFS,this is a safety critical piece of equipment, bloody oversize O ring Angry

PLEASE, go and talk to a decent tyre fitter before you consider doing this, preferably one with experience of track bikes and competition tyres as there are lots of semi trained chimps out there working as tyre fitters.

Well I took your advise and checked with a well known reputable tyre dealer who not only has lots of experience track bikes and competition tyres  but races at a decent level as well .

Showed them the photo of the bloody oversize O ring and they said "thats exactly what we do "

So I'm guessing that's why this one hasn't dropped any pressure in the last 4 years

Most of the craftsmen and decent engineers must have retired or emigrated, the Gaffa tape & WD40 brigade are taking over.Cry

I'll take nearly 45 years of precision engineering experience and the confirming opinions of two different tyre fitters regarding those valves and EARLY OZ wheels with the raised central ridge, later ones were flat profiled, perhaps you have one of those?

If not I hope your good luck continues.

shallow V profile between spokes, later versions are flat.
