I've done a bit of hunting around, but can't seem to get a difinitive answer. No surprise there I guess.

I'm currently feeding the beast 95 RON, is 97 RON a better choice or worse. These are the only types available in UK.

I always use Shell, BP or similar. Never supermarket stuff and usually stick the premium stuff in, believing what I'm told about cleaner engines and other marketing lies.

So, 95 or 97 and premium or regular?

Thanks

I use 97 mainly as it has less or no ethanol in it and various cleaning agents to help keep injectors clean.

Thanks Hemi, I've heard about the ethanol issues. I just want to be sure I'm putting in the fuel that is best for the bike.

We spend thousands on accessories and go faster bits, but maybe not enough on quality fuel. People are often saying they just bung supermarket stuff in.

A bit like spending £1000's on Armani clothes and then eating Macy D's for a year. Them clothes is going to split

I'll shift the beasts diet to 97.

Just found this on another forum

BP Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at all sites across the UK. BP Ultimate (super unleaded petrol) does not have Ethanol added, except in the South West of England.

Esso Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol at most sites in the UK. Esso Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol, except in the South West of England (Devon & Cornwall)

Shell Shell has repeatedly refused to answer the question. It is therefore an assumption only, that all Shell petrol should be considered to contain 5% Ethanol.

Texaco Ethanol is added at 5% to unleaded petrol. Texaco Super Unleaded petrol does not contain Ethanol.

Total Ethanol is not added to any Total fuel (including standard unleaded petrol). Except in the North West and South East of England.

Total have kindly provided a list of filling stations where E0 petrol can still be purchased. Click this link to download the list TOTAL E0 Fuel Sites.xls

As far as I can gather, the only reason that the super unleaded fuels seem to be ethanol free is because it is harder to obtain the fuel quality required for super unleaded if Ethanol is present. However several of the oil companies told me that this will change in the future but that no date has been set.

Hopefully I have attached a PDF of all the total sites

Also there should be an 'E' number marked on the fuel pump E0,E5,E10 for ethanol content.

I read a post on another forum from last year that Murco super unleaded has zero ethanol content. Don't know if that's still the case

Trouble with this is that it is based on what the Triumph TR register said in 2013: http://www.groups.tr-register.co.uk/wessex/ethanol-update.html
I think it has now changed with BP, Total and Esso premium being the only ones for definite (outside of Devon and Cornwall)
see online Total: http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/total_e0.pdf
