Hi all, at the risk of being branded a heretic would any of you have 1st hand experience of Ducati 888 ownership? In particular when compared to an '03 RSV-R.
I've got to say having tried one the RSV-R is a sweet bike and no mistake and I'm seriously tempted to jump ship.
Grateful for any thoughts you may have.
cheers.

Hi Mate ive had both. The rsv is definately faster and much more reliable. Ducati holds a corner like no other bike. The 888 is good but the 916 is fantastic. The rsv needs the ohlins etc. Believe it or not Aprilia parts are more expensive than Ducati but the rsv will need less maintanence. By that i mean if you do any track days the most you would do after is basic service. But the ducati is different, valve clearances check after every track day and sometimes engine work was required; and if you want to keep a full ducati dealership service record the belt changes are expensive. Doesnt come into it with the Rsv. Although 888 prices seem to be rising for a good one i would stick with the Rsv if it was my choice. I might be tempted by the new 1098/1198 if i had the cash though. Hope this helps. You pay your $ and you takes your chance. Jools
