It's that time of the year when you start to think of something to play with in your sheds fnaar! and lately i cant stop thinking of building another gen1 but this time i want to put a rsv4 motor in one.I reckon it would be one hell of a weapon and really mess with people's heads a twin that sounds like a 4 and goes like sh*t off a shovel and you dont have to be a midget to ride. What do other people fancy building?

I've heard a few folk off here say they're building cafe racers, I think a build thread for these would be great. How about some pics to whet my appetite. Always wanted to build a featherbed framed v twin cafe but never had the funds (or necessary skills) to do it.

Hmmmn. Let's see.
Free off clutch on XT500 and prep it for MoT.
Hunt down and fix mystery oil leak on Speed Triple.
Drop engine and (finally) fix sheared engine bolt on Mille.
That'll probably do me for this winter.

Just finished mine. well nearly its like a on / off switch at the moment. a Yamaha bws 50cc with a now ported and polished 70cc polini bigbore / free flow unrestricted exhaust and a 19mm flat side dellort carb . bloody variator and clutch are just too harse and its all go and trying to wheelie all the time or nothing, so got to play with clutch spring strength and variator weights

It's a KH350/KR1s hybrid this is the mock up, all the frame alterations are complete to use the KR1s front & rear ends, exhausts are made & it's all stripped down now ready to go for powder coat.

Gonna use these guys, gold wheels & black frame Smile used them before & it's the best powder coat I've ever seen

Forks off and re.furbed, rear shock same, swing arm off and bearing check/replace, head stock bearings check/ replace, new rearsets on, hooked airbox on, find eddy tubes and fit, engine clean, and might have fairings resprayed if time allows!   And lots of cleaning & polishing.
Busy,busy,busy!

The mate I do trackdays with is thinking about a Mutleystrada special along the lines of a Tuono to go with his supermono and Mv etc and that really gets me interested.

Hmm, 1200cc,  tunable,on the fly engine & suspension mapping, yup, that sounds worth doing.

I can't help thinking it's flogging a dead horse trying to mod 1990's tech when you can start with a big bore modern engine and take it forward.

But I'll probably end up just dragging the ape out of the garage again next year when the track season starts up again.

Funny Ian, I was looking on eBay this morning after this thread, and found a 1200 'mutely' engine for sale!
I was thinking that's a good start?
