HI Troops.

I am thinking of putting a quickshifter on my 2005 RSV factory. I would love feedback from other owners to know if it is worth it.
Thank you.

Hi

Personally I love them and would highly recommend it

Decide if you want road or gp shift. I much prefer the latter even on the road.
Depending what me you’re after then you may need some rearsets to make it work better

Then enjoy!

Yes on my both my RSVR’s and both in GP which is indeed race shift as you describe
You will need rearsets to get that shift pattern if you haven’t got them already

I have the dynojet ones but only because I have power commander on both
I’ve a HM one on my ZX10R which is also fantastic

Thank you very much

I enjoy them all in different ways.

Some of the other lads run different QS and will tell you which is better be it fuel or ignition cuts to allow a clean shift but I’ve had no problems to date with any of the ones I’ve used

I use cordona pq8 on my rsv and had another fitted on Thursday on my gsxr, they work very well, they make a shift lever so you don’t have to use rearsets if you don’t want to but I do.

Can't remember who but think I've seen someone on here with healtech. Probably the option I'd take, just because it's standalone without power commander, cheapest price and easily configured with an app. Think it can do both fuel and ignition too. Or one or the other if you prefer.

Never used one,but im a dinosaur.
They do sound fantastic though when a bike sets off from a meet
And blasts through the gears in no time at all.
I imagine once youve had or tried one youd never want to be without it!
Id be all over the place trying to get use to the gears opposite way round.
Id be hedge bound in no time.aarrgh

Can have a QS in either shift pattern. Having QS doesn't automatically mean you're using GP shift, they're two separate things. I think the box is that good on the RSV that clutchless is near seamless. But where a QS will really be helpful is shifting up while still leant over. That little chop of the throttle is going to upset the bike far more than an automated cut. If only for the extra movement on the bars. Plus the shift time. I estimate a clutchless at around 300-400ms, so definitely not as seamless as about 70ms.

Here's another solution for a reverse-shift quickshifter:

* Footrest bracket: Homemade from 10 mm alloy plate. Retains OEM RHS bracket.
* Gear pedal, footrest, gearshaft arm and banjos: Aprilia Falco (N.B. The arm is reversed to get clearance between the tie-rod and the frame.)

* Quickshifter sensor (TLS-DCS-M6) & tie-rod (TLS-TR-FF-70): Translogic (https://www.translogicsystems.com/)

In my case, this plugs straight in to a Power Commander PC5.

How does that 10mm alloy plate hold up? Does it flex much? Were the Falco sets much further back than stock RSV ones? Guess the spacing was wrong on them for the gen 2?

I originally used a filed-down OEM footplate bracket (it has to have the peg mounts filed down and then it has to be bored to accept the Falco footpeg shaft), but I bent this during an off at Mallory. I decided to make the 10 mm plate version because I enjoy doing that kind of stuff. It's fully servicable and tolerates all 113 kg of me raising my arse out of the saddle (to hang off) without complaint.

The footpeg position is RSVR OEM. I didn't use the Falco bracket, but, from what I remember, the Falco position's about the same. The length of the link rod is immaterial, as it's replaced by the quickshifter.

Here's a pic of the Falco footpeg in the modified OEM RSVR bracket. As you can see, the OEM bracket has a recess for mounting the fairing hanger. I don't need this, so making the whole bracket 10 mm probably makes it a bit sturdier.
