hi folks noticed some oil in the bellypan today so took fairing off and it looks like the oil tank has a small crack around the bottom mount and out of curiosity i put a magnet on the tank but it doesnt stick does anyone know what metal they are made of so i can either get it brazed or welded or any other suggestions? thanks.

If RSVR it will be stainless steel , in which case its unpainted, if normal RSV it will be steel and painted black.

Take it off, drain and flush then find a good welder to redo the mounting brackets as thats where they crack and leak but also check the seams as they can leak there as well.

you can't weld it ,its bake bean tin metal, got to be braised with brass , did mine . it due to vibration normally goes in the middle where the steel has been pressed.
