Hi folks new to the site been looking on here for ages but generally have an aversion to joining things but thought sod it why not anyway my question i have a 2000 rsvr that i have done loads to but can anyone tell me the temperature that yours generally runs at as i have ceramic coated the headers and taped them as well and it runs around the 74 mark now ? but i cant remember the original temp.

hello matey welcome, from memory (I've not ridden for a while now) I think its low to mid 80's that mine runs at (celsius).

What did the ceramic coating cost and who did you use? and another question, why wrap them as well, does the ceramic not cut down the radiant heat enough?

Post a pic of the bike up when you can.

Mine runs at 75 ish. Shoots up though when you sit in traffic. Hardly got past 73 yesterday it was soo bloody cold.

hi thanks for the reply i used the heat wrap as well just for the belt and braces approach and i thought while i had the headers off i might as well . The coating was done by a firm called camcote near warrington but i dont know how much as we use them at work and they did it as a favour but when it is running you can put your hand on the rear header its hot but doesnt burn you so it is working . the temp usually runs at 74/75c and when in traffic goes to around 84 . My theory is the more heat you can keep in the header the better chance the incoming air has of cooling the system without a scorching hot header behind the rad radiating heat around the engine.
