Here are some videos and photos from 3 days at Motorland.

Great to see a number of RSV4's. Met a couple who each had an RSV4 for the track plus she also had an RSV4 for the road. Sadly he will need a new one for the track as the high wind on day two caught him out and he totalled it. Fortunately he is unhurt.

This was my first track day on the RSV4. The last time I was at this track was my first time out on my GSXR1000k8 so it would be a good comparison. My best lap on the gixer was 2.12. I managed a 2.06 on the RSV4 so I was pleased. It was also very easy to ride fast. Very safe and I learned to trust the traction control even when leaning on the edge of the tyre at 100mph. It was like a scalpel compared to the carving knife of the gixer.

I wanted to stick with the standard Pirelli SP's so I could use them on the road and track. They have been quite good on the road with nearly 2000 miles of life. But once I was up to speed I was only getting 3 sessions out of a rear tyre so I am going need a re think. Met a chap called Darren who was running Dunlop slicks on his Factory which looked superb even after a couple of days use at a faster pace than I was running at. Looks like I will need another set of wheels.

Day 3 session 3

It was not all good though. After trashing my 4th tyre I took out my mates 1199R. I know that is probably a swear word on this forum, but the truth is it was a much better track bike than my Factory. To continue the analogy it was like a laser to the Aprilias scalpel. Brakes, light weight, nimbleness, and power were on a different level to my RSV4. And this was a back to back comparison on the same day at the same Track on the same tyres. It does cost £10k more so it should be a better bike. Previously I had considered it as a fashion statement, but believe me it is a much better track bike. Hoping to get a video from someone who followed me so I can see what lap times I was doing. It felt faster than the RSV4. We shall see.

I also noticed on the RSV4 that the rev limiter cut in at 13500 even though the red line is at over 1400. Does any one know why this is?

Sorry if the photos dont show properly. Having a few issues with Dropbox. Should be fixed shortly.

Ready to go.

A better track bike???

Nice but unreliable

Glad you enjoyed it.

That wind was the strongest I have ever ridden in.

Your video is very good quality.

Cheers, yep scary wind. Go Pro hero2 on board, very happy with it, had to buy an external mic to enhance the sound, that's the only drawback of the Go Pro IMO, great kit.

Nice vids, Ducati no swear word for me as i have one.

Re the rev limiter, 13.5k is the limit in all the tech manuals i have for the v4 not 14k so i would say that is normal.
