    Posted: 21 May 2021 at 11:31

What a cracking couple of days at Cadwell last week! My first open pitlane trackday and I was a little bit nervous to go out with the fast boys but me and the little 6R held our own and I learnt a lot following some much faster riders. Also my first time out on slicks and although not a full blown race slick the metzeler TD slick was equally as good if not a touch better than the SC1 supercorsa tyres I previously ran. Bike was faultless, sun was out and a little show off photo over the mountain. Snetterton open pitlane on the 3rd can't wait.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

This was the second day when my mates turned up and I went out to play with them so a little slower pace but I caught this nasty crash on my camara. I slow because there's a lot of traffic ahead and give plenty of room around the outside but the white bike who doesn't gets taken out!

Looked a good day mate!

Well ridden by you.

My Snetterton day was so wet EVERY session was red flagged at least once. I managed three laps...including sighting laps (two) and gave up. It’s was pointless totally.

Not very impressive the bike that took the other guy out really. Track day for gods sake. No need for that. Think I’d be finding it hard not to bounce him around the car park after that personally. Know the risks after all but that was irresponsible for my two pence worth.

I actually fancy going back to Cadwell after seeing this. I’ve not been since 2017!

That's crap mate! I don't get it at all on trackdays we all want to ride just stick within your talent and everyone has a good day. Would be brilliant to get out together some day. The open pitlane was much better and I'll be booking those if possible in the future, there's some coming up at Cadwell later in the year if you fancy it? I've just stumbled across myself on another riders camara https://youtu.be/830qQTF8UN4 9min at the gooseneck and follows me until park straight. You can see everyone riding much more respectfully unlike the inters idiots. Nice to see yourself for a change. Then Ryan Vickers flys past him at barn but again plenty of room. I'm assuming you ride fast group? I thought people would be a bit better???

It's almost 20 years since I've been to Cadwell and it doesn't look much different. Grass was very neat though! Looks like the weather stayed good for you and you just missed getting taken out yourself.

I say every time that Trackdays are far more dangerous than racing, too many people with less talent (And intelligence) than enthusiasm. You don't go five into a corner on a trackday (Or shouldn't) and certainly don't start switching lines half way through said corner!

Must say that bike is looking much nicer these days Adam πŸ‘ Saw the crash yesterday I think it was but thought it was an inters session at the time. OPL explains the difference in pace between everyone. But still, a little less aggression on a track day wouldn't go amiss. When he came up to the traffic he probably should have hung back a moment to figure out what was going on. At least that's what I do when I see a traffic jam in front of me.

But then if you wait a minute you end up just being part of the train as people can sometimes take liberties flying by. Into Park is bad for that I think. Getting passed by riders I'd just overtaken because I didn't want to nip up the inside of a slower rider into Park corner. Only to have the slower rider I'd passed earlier do it to me ha.

Good to see you getting out there doing some days. Riding's looking good. Looked comfortable through Charlies judging by that other lad's video.

EDIT: Also good to hear you got on well with the TD slicks. At least in Spain when I swapped from the old SC scrubs to the compks they didn't feel quite as sticky as the supercorsas I'd taken off. Still plenty good enough for me, just not quite as grippy on the edges.

Its a lovely place to ride mate, trackdays certainly are dangerous my mate who does cars can't believe it he reckons were mental Shocked.

You're dead right there is no need for riding so close which is why the OPL was much safer as you can see in the second link from the random vid I found on YouTube. Sadly I'd forgotten my camara bracket so no footage from my bike until the second inters day but the BSB guys testing were very impressive! Can't comment on racing yet that's next year in Bemsee but I'm really looking forward to it, it's been a must do for many years and I've finally got a job where I can just about afford it.....on a budget LOL

Cheers Owen its taken a while but I'm really happy with the results especially as it was a DIY lockdown project with Lily my eldest.

The crash was inters day mate the difference in riding was vast between the two days literally night and day! I'm going to avoid the inters and only book fast or OPL and mainly OPL as it was much safer and a more relaxed approach having the freedom to do as you please.

Thanks for the comments on the riding I felt really good, tyres were spot on, fresh from MCT suspension service and a big brake upgrade all came together nicely. Roll on snetterton!

Good idea having Owen show you round and not me.

I will have a look certainly.

I need to rebuild the cans on the Kawasaki. It blew 102db static at Snetterton.  In fact I think it was over as they said 102db looking a bit like they were lying. One of them pointed at them and waggled a finger and seemed to suggest keep it buttoned down on the straights πŸ˜…
It poured so it didn’t do a thing really but still needs looking at. The Aprilia is 100db static last tested but I may of sold it by then
Mind you I’ve a few months to get bikes  sorted after all

Plenty of time, I know it's a drive by limit at Donny but thought 102 static is similar to the drive by limit?? Mine varies, usually 102 static but blew 99 on the first day at Cadwell then 104 the next. My mates RSV was 112 without a baffle 99 with.

It's 98dB drive by at Donny. I took the stock exhaust in case but found bikes were no quieter than you'd get at Cadwell with no one getting flagged. Must be similar to a 105 static I think. Though there's no way I could get MSV to commit to giving a static equivalent. Either way, the quiet days aren't very quiet I don't think. Certainly not as tight as you hear about for Oulton or Snetterton.

That's good to hear, snetterton can be strict depending on the tester but I'm yet to use the baffle I bought from MHP.

That's good. Something I hear anecdotally about 6rs is that they do well in noise testing. Would much prefer to just take a baffle in the toolbox rather than lug around the 75kg stock RSV exhaust just in case. If it weren't so heavy I'd just use it really. Think power is better on it at full throttle and it would sail through any noise test. Shame it's a 2 man carry really..

Cheers Rich, it was so much fun we've booked another double header at Cadwell in September! Got an evening session at snetterton on Thursday night, brands on the 3rd of August and Donny with Owen  ( blacklines ) 3rd of September trying to get as much practice as possible  for bemsee next year. How's that superstock monster of yours?

Hi Adam, you going racing, I raced with them years ago, you will absolutely love it mate, trackday won't feel the same again after that πŸ‘πŸ˜‚πŸ‘.
The monster finished but I have a degenerative spine, but f__k it, I might get some lighter spring, I am 13st with my leathers over my shoulder the other day, they go for stone at least, get an air jacket if you race.
I am starting on my beloved Aprilia in the Autumn, I have had to put the monster on the road to see if my shoulder and spine will take it.
I will be in the General section, asking questions again for the Aprilia very soon, I put some pics of the Superstock finished, we will just have to see what happens, at coming up to 62 it will be a handful to say the least. Look after yourself πŸ˜‰ πŸ‘

Airsuit is ready at the end of the month had to wait because of my size. I didn't realise that your back was so bad fair play to you mate for doing what you can. That R1 will certainly be a handful on the road!

Well done Adam, injuries are much harder to fix, the safety of the air suit will give you a degree of safety, our mate on the Ducati is always crashing but thanks to his suit he has been OK, if you are on track it is a must. I need one so i can don't get anymore injuries plus to protect my back and right hand shoulder which is over an inch shorter, but they made the suit so i don't look all wonky πŸ˜‚. My shoulders are the same size and don't drop either on one side, amazing bit of work they done there.
Yes the R1 will be a bit of an animal on the road, I would have not had the full power maps had I known all this was going to happen, but none of us were.
I wish you all luck when you go racing, you will make some great friends and have a great experience and memories πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒβœŒοΈπŸ‘
