Hi Folks, it's my first time posting on here so go easy please Tongue

In all honesty, my reason for joining the site is in the hope that I may be able to hunt down my first Tuono. I have been looking for the right bike now since the middle of last year and each time I see for sale what appears to be my dream machine, it is sold from under me!! So maybe by joining here, other members considering a sale might come my way first - or at least that's my theory. It's probably flawed but I thought no harm in giving it a go..

I have never owned an Aprilia before, and only once before owned a naked bike, a nice Street Triple RS. Before and after the Triumph I have owned a handful of different sportsbikes, from an old 2003 r6, a 636, more recently a couple of daytonas and my current ride, a 2015 gsxr-750. 
Why a Tuono, well I am fast approaching (if not there already) mid life and I am looking to replace my gsxr (as much as we are in love) with something of a more all rounder. 

I have spent the last 5 years dabbling in track days and the gsxr is more than I ever need for my ability on the track. However off the track, I do ride on the road and I am beginning to feel I would be more suited to something more, shall we say, upright! Can I see myself giving up trackdays, no not in the short term, so I still want a bike that is suited to a thrashing on the track every now again. More importantly however, I want to be able to jump on my road bike and without making me feel my age every time I head out So after looking at all the options, I have decided my next bike is to be the Tuono v4 1100 Factory.

I feel like I know the current used market in terms of price and spec. The price range is fairly wide open, I have seen 2016 models being advertised privately with 10,0000 miles on for £9.5k, upto £13500 for a very low mileage late 2019 model at the dealers. I missed out on such a bike this week, 1 owner 2019 model 1200 miles with aftermarket parts advertised for £11800, that seemed like a good price and I am kicking myself for not acting sooner.

So this is where I am at with my search. Ideally I would like the latest 2019 model with semi-active ohlins however I would consider a 2018 model. Either way I want the akro exhaust and map fitted to anything I find. Bike has to be low mileage and well cared for. I have the funds waiting for the right bike, I guess I have to live in hope until that day comes!! 

Come on folks, the Tuono v41100 factory cant be that good, you know you want to sell... Cry

Hi and welcome in ! 

I purchased a new 2020 Tuono factory and it’s absolutely awesome. The suspension is lovey to have and IMO worthy of the upgrade over the 2018 model coupled with much better colours on the 2019 and 2020. 
I’ve done a few mods , gp shift , titanium rad guards, tail tidy, crash protection, mirrors, levers , fuel cap etc. 
I opted for the carbon rear hugger to add to the other 2020 factory bits at the time along with the Akrapovic and factory air filter upgrade which meant aprilia mapped it and gave a full warranty as they did it all. 
You won’t regret it 👍🏻

Also can’t recall if the 2016/17 had the auto blipper off hand. As that is an awesome piece of kit

Sounds like you have yourself one super nice bike, you lucky thing!!

My funds can't stretch to a 2020 (not this year at least) and I haven't seen one in person so not 100% about the paint scheme and wheels. One thing that attracts me to the earlier models are the red wheels and silver paint tank! If I am looking down at the wheels when out riding then I guess I am fast heading for trouble!!

Good shout out regarding the blipper and earlier models, will bear in mind.

Part of the problem is that they don’t sell in big numbers new so that has a knock on effect to the numbers around used. I haven‘t looked recently but around 2019 it was something like 250 for the year. 

As you have discovered it’s going to be a waiting game to find one at the right price that hasn’t been beasted.

It's certainly been a waiting game so far. I am surprised on the numbers considering this bike has been at the top of the naked reviews for the last 2 or 3 years now. Is that figure for both the RR & Factory models?

Very rough guide but as of Q2 2019 something like 950 Tuono 1100 factories had been registered since its inception as a 1100 in the uk.  ( didn’t look at 1000cc ). 12 months later that had risen to 1100 ish bikes so you can see the numbers. The base model was much lower at I think less than 200 total sold rising 70 ish over the same year. There will be some bikes sold solely for track and not registered to throw in the mix. 

As to why, Aprilia are and always have been an enigma sales wise. It’s partly reputation, due to their historical financial woes. A history of very shoddy dealers and Aprilia not always standing behind their product as well as some marques when things go wrong.  Some of it is justified, some not, at least not more recently. For reasons unknown and I suspect it’s the biggy, they just don’t have the sales kudos of say Ducati. I like to think of Aprilia’s as for the more discerning Italian bike fan. Maybe a bit more hands on ( if your local dealer is pants) but cos your a biker and not a fashion queen that’s ok.
