Have got one of your modded exhaust collectors fitted on my 03 Mille R can certainly tell the difference in mid range punch together with a Aprilia Ti race can and modded air box set up by Griff at AP but now want a Akra end can set up.Any idea how much Akra refurbs cost.

are carbon Akras ok for Milles? I hav seen a few with carbon cans, but unsure if they can take the Vtwin abuse? Think titanium/steel would be better suited?
Would like to hear from people who have used Carbon Akras and comment on longevity....

Hi 426 Hemi have heard of Suzuki GSXR K5/6 being used on GEN 1 single end can systems these do have 60mm bore, is the length of these K5/6 Akra end cans the same as the Akra on the GEN 1, just want the look to be the same.Good to make contact again as I live in Rugeley and know you live close we should meet up to compare our GEN 1s.Would like to see your GEN 1 with GSXR Akra end can fitted.

I paid £80 for a repack of my Akra, rolling out of dents and a good polish from mark at MHP. It had no packing when he opened it up.

Sorry to revive an old thread.....did the repack make a noticeable difference to ghe sound levels? My 02 mille was measured at 101.9db at Brands on a 102 limit day so i need to quieten it down a bit. When i fiest got it measured about 25,000 miles ago, could gave sworn it only came up at 99. Ive got twin arrows on my gen2 which are getting noisy too.

Tricky to say
I had arrows for my Gen2 race bike rebuilt and they blow 100db now. I cant recall what they blew before (rebuilt due to crashes) but race days are 105db so it didn’t really matter. A rebuild will be worth doing as most of the packaging will of gone or collapsed however, for your Gen1 I’d just take the standard can as it takes seconds to change and you’re sorted. Or if you do rebuild take the standard one with you just in case. |

To be fair it's sort of hard to tell because the static testing can vary so much. Once got tested at Cadwell at 98dB. Day got cancelled due to fog, so I rebooked another day. No more miles on the bike and this time it was 103dB.. I've heard getting the engine warm makes a big difference. But I don't know how much is just down to either the dB meter they use or the technique.
Anecdotally I've heard of repacks with acoustafil dropping 2-5dB. Enough people say it makes a meaningful difference to suggest it's not just measurement error. If you don't already have one, a baffle could help even more than a repack. Or like James said, take the stock one with you just in case. I'm doing that for donny next Wednesday. As far as I'm concerned the only thing bad about the stock one is the weight. Power and noise is bang on I think. Quiet at testing revs but still the same when wide open anyway.
