Need some help...
I've descovered a fuel leak, its coming from the 2 of the 3 pipes coming from below my seat and tank. The fuel has been gathering in my belly-pan, its a slow steady drip. Any advise folks ?? |

Is it being pushed out by excess pressure in the tank because a breather hose is blocked?

i agree with the professor of polish, i mean nooj.
poke a bit of wire down the pipes running down from the tank. chances are one is blocked |

Lads,
I've done a bit of investigation,I've just taken the tank off and it looks like the gasket has failed and fuel is coming from the outside edge of the fuel pump housing. I'll buy a new seal and let yous know if thats the isse. whats the best site to buy from ? It could have been a bad one if I was out and about with fuel leaking out the tank :-((( Maybe best yous have a look between the seat and tank to see if you can smell or see any fuel signs.

You could ring Aprilia performance.
You might need to use some liquid gasket if your bike has a plastic tank as they deform a bit with age and use of ethanol in fuel and that is why they sometimes leak.
The normal gasket is not thick enough to give a good seal if that happens but i can't remember if the Falco is steel or plastic. |

I've bought a new gasket on-line and will be with me Friday, It's a plastic tank, have you heard of this issue on other forums ? |

ignore Sabre he's just jealous cos he's got one of those orrible blue rsv's and now he's an "ex copper" he's missing the force.
Yes mate have heard of it quite a few times. Not helped if you use supermarket fuel as it has a higher ethanol content which can affect plastic tanks. The leak varies from mild to niagra falls depending on the distortion but liquid gasket will usually fix it.

just for when some one in the future searches for this solution
if you do use a plastic gasket as well as the seal, ensure you get a gasket that works with petrol - MOST do not! real key to making this repair work is in cleaning the old seal out of the recess - a piece of soft wood will take it out nicely and not gouge the tank.... finally be aware that the ethanol in the fuel will deform our tanks.... i suspect this will be more of a problem in the future and for the record, afaik the higher octane fuel - i.e. the expensive stuff, does not have ethanol in it.... my little scooter now runs on the 97 octane stuff - or full 4 star when i can find it
