Topic: Front paddock standPosted: 23 Oct 2020 at 08:31 |

Hi, Looking for a front paddock stand for a 2015 V4 Factory. I have a few already but none seem to fit under bottom of the fork stantion/front calipers. Am I better with a headstock type for this bike? Cheers.

Personally I would always go for a headstock stand plus you can strip the forks out if needed. ABBA stands work very well and do a front lift kit but it is the more expensive option but you can use them on lots of bikes.

Definitely get an ABBA stand with the front lift option - it'll be the best investment you make.

Doesn't an ABBA stand lift the whole bike or am I thinking of a Constand?

Yes,an Abba would lift the whole bike but with the added Front Lift Arm you have the option of front wheel up,both up or rear only up. Excellent bit of kit for the price, although the SkyLift is even better. Horses for courses though, an Abba of any description is pretty useless for quick track use where some sort of paddock stand is still needed for warmers

I found I needed an Abba with front lift arm thing giving me the most versatility. I’d not the space for a skylift really (or floor)
I’ve also got a headstock stand and regular paddock stands for reasons Ian mentions. If I had to have one above all else maintenance wise it’s an Abba stand and aren’t a bad price really.

Agree, even workshops like AP still use Abba stands on their lifts so I'd say one of those for general maintenance + a front arm lift for versatility. Paddock stands are best for what the name implies although I still use them in my garage for storage purposes as needed.

Just been looking at the Constand and seems good value for money and very easy to use?

Yeah, that's a copycat stand there are several versions floating around,I think Bursig was the original I did think about one of them but after looking at the Ape I decided an Abba was far more secure. All types have their plus points, just go with what suits you and your budget |

The 1jac is a better version, with the guys I go to track days with its about a 1/2 and 1/ split between constand and 1jac, all the constands had to be modified to make them as secure as the 1jac
But both are great for track days (providing you have a smoothish surface) no good if you are out in re field at cadwell

What was the mod required to the Constand?
Can the bike fall off?

Think only if you fit any of them wrong they will fall off or if the floor isn’t level hence why I don’t use one
What is your purpose for one? If you intended to remove wheels forks and head bearings for example then an Abba with front lift or a skylift type will see you able to do just about anything on the bike If you just want to take a wheel off or calipers, fit tyre warmers the an R&G front paddock stand will do just that. Headstock stands will achieve that also along with being able to remove forks if you wished.

I use my abba for most jobs and it's hard to beat. My trackbike doesn't have a side stand so lives on its paddock stands permanently so both are essential to me. I've got a lovely set of valtermoto stands I use for the Daytona when cleaning or just to look at because I'm a tart
. Has anyone seen the Geetech tech stands? Now they are beautiful and I'd have to have a set when I feel flush one day and the bike comes into the house but I think my wife would move out

That's the ones haha giddyup! Bastards ![]() I do worry about thieves at trackdays however with the new one helper closed gates rule there's a lot less people around and those who are are there to ride!

The legs/arms that the wheels attach to are a bit flimsy, (they flex abit) compared to the 1jac so the guys welded webs to them to beef them up

I have to concur with most, ABBA stands are the most practical. I had one some years ago for my R1, but sold it when I sold the R1 and bought a V-Max as it had a centre stand.
I've bought another ABBA together with the swingarm removal kit for my Gen2.
