Ok guys, now that I've got the items I needed my bike is now ready for a showroom makeover.
During the makeover I'm also wanting to improve my bikes ride, but without spending a shed load of money i.e: power commander/quick shifter etc......
I'm wanting to smoothen the ride somewhat, but I also want to achieve quicker and smoother acceleration.
Friend said a 14 tooth front sprocket will make it more snatchy around town etc but will make it quicker upon acceleration. He also said about by tweaking the TB's (Throttle Bodies) as this could help with idle and a smoother ride at lower revs?!

I'm also looking to replace my Ti Akra's - any advise cans suitable for my bike? I was thinking Mivvs GP (but hear you can lose power with these) or RoadsItalia Projsiz
As you can tell, I'm a complete novice when it comes to these bikes, but I want to learn and want the best for my bike.... Any advice with regards to the above will be greatly appreciated

Question :
Why replace the akra's ? Why not spend that money on a power commander ?
When I originally fitted a PC to my bike ,and had it set up on the dyno , it transformed the bike totally.

15x 42 seems to be the most popular gearing ratio talked about in here and was recommended to me by he guys at AP
Getting the tb's set up at the same time as your PC would be a simple additional task.
Also bung a high flow filter into the air box whilst you are at it .

Indeed :) been here a while, but been hiding.... I've tried to add pics, but I'm finding it difficult. Not as straight forward as other forums for some reason?! :/

I've also tried to pin myself on Garveys MAP, but the double click is having none of it?! :/

Can you tell I'm new....? :P lol

The right Akra took a wee scrape, therefore the sticker was damaged and now theres a few faint markings on the Titanium.

I'm a virgo and my luxuries need to be just so - I'm 'anal' like that! Confused

Remember Gen1 and Gen2 ratios are different as standard.. so the 1 down 2 up gives different numbers to use..

Gen2 recommended downgearing is 15-42  got a lovely set of Talon Sprockets on mine in that ratio from the AP shop.

Exhausts, going short will alter your torque curve, loosing oomph low/mid and gaining it up top, and need a good bit of tuning on a PC3 to make it right... Better to stick with reasonalbe length cans.. I've got Roadsitalia DoubleFires, couldnt be happier with their look, performance, sound or cost.. and its a very rare thing for me to buy anything new.. happy as a pig in muck.
The Projsiz didint exist when I bought 18months ago, if it had, thats what id pick.. will look stunning with a gen2 tail.. and a 1/3rd the price of a similar Akra.. AND MADE IN ITALY.. silly, but its a nice touch.

A Carbon 'hooked style' open airbox or similar will lift the mid torque, nice punch in the kidneys when i fitted that one.. improved the dip at 6.5k.. smoother and more powerfull..

Deffo get the TB's adjusted, AFTER the new exhausts and airbox are fitted and map2 is set.. then get the Boys to fit a PC3 and QS and down to the Dyno, with a description of what power delivery you're after. you will be happy and it will make a big difference to the bike.

While at it, have the suspension setup to your weight, serviced if its over 20k.

Awesome, thanks for that!
Ok so here's my thinkinG behind all this and please pardon my ignorance, as I'm new to all this and just want the best for my Bitch?! ;)
PiperX airfilter ordered and now I'm looking to go for a 14 toothed front sprocket (1 down).
Looking out for a bargain PCv and then the Projsiz cans will follow - eventually, but then I do have straight through ti akra's on bike at present....
So an Aprilia dealer should be able to switch from map1 to map2 once I've done my air filter and sprocket?

You should just ring AP and get one of the chaps to tell you everything you need to know in about 45 seconds. Then buy it and get them to fiddle with your bike for the afternoon. Im new to Aprilia. The first thing I learned is that AP are the daddy-o's. If you want to post pics you have to open a photobucket account and upload to here through that account. Get some piccies!

IMHO piperx filter is a likely mistake. assuming its a standard shape filter, it probably cost at least half of what a proper open airbox mod would have.

AP usually carry stock of airbox kits and SMW is right, their advice is second to none.. if there is a combination of mod's possible, AP have done it and can advise.

I'm sure its a decent product, but its not the hooked/renegade/evolution open air box mod that is popular. The mod removes the top half of the airbox creating a much larger volume of air for the throttlebodies to draw from.

As soon as I've ordered my RoadsItalia PROJSIZ cans I'll be selling my Titanium Akra's and this RSV.NET will have first dibs.....

p.s: If anyone knows of a PC5 up for sale then I'd also be interested.....

ROADSITALIA 'PROJSIZ'

I just hope these sounds as good as they look?! :/

Just out of interest....did you have the best BMX out of your mates and are you a bit particular about how tidy your house is?
