Thank God for road chippings....

That was close.... Riding back from visiting my folks and went the long way and wished I hadn't at first because it had all been resurfaced with chippings, so I'd slowed up considerably, got about 5 miles from home and thought something doesn't feel right, it was moving about a bit more than just because of loose chippings, so pulled over and something had gone straight through the centre of the rear tyre.... Still had air in it though so I managed to sit right forwards and limp it home at 30 before it went completely flat,phew....
If the road hadn't been chipped though I would have been way faster coming back and that could have been very nasty.. Never thought I'd be grateful to those poxy chippings but I am now .
Oh well, at least the tyre was about shagged anyway so the new one will get fitted in the week and I can start again

This leads me to another question..... Which emergency puncture repair kits does anybody recommend (that'll fit under a Tuono hump )

Totally sh*te aren't they, I never go near any roads that I know have been done until they've swept and painted them... They've done loads round here lately, all my favourite roads as well and just when the weathers hit it's sweet spot .

yea,i had to turn round and re route 4 times tuther day,
no warning until youd actualy turned off the roundabout onto the roads!
then they do it when its guna be warm (to keep the council workers tans topped up)
so theres the sticky tar everywere too.
the cars equaly as battered,stones chipping the paintwork and and tar sticking to alloys and paintwork.

Well that was an expensive ride to my folks.... Whatever punctured my tyre came round and smashed my carbon hugger as well.... Knew I should have just stayed in bed😤....

Well it comes in three's.... Last weekend my Dainese boot got snagged on my rearset heel guard, didn't think anything of it until i got home and took my boots off and the side pod had popped off....
I'll be glad when August has buggered off😤....

Haha, well.ive still got 18 days left of August so if it's my unlucky month then I've plenty of time left to beat your 7's....

I got breakdown cover in with insurance. Found it cheaper than sorting my own cover out

I've got my personal AA membership so that would have been the final resort, just could do with one under the saddle for a similar situation when I'm not far from home, would,have been much happier if I could have just done a quick plug repair and a pump up just to get me the few miles to home a bit safer.
Think I'll just get one of those ones from Busters just as back up.

I always carry a plug kit under the seat, has got me to where I need to be twice, once in the highlands of Scotland and once in France (did about 1500 miles on that plug )

+1 on thr breakdown cover I have used it twice this year already. I have a gear gremlin puncture repair kit think it was about £25. Got it for a recent biking holiday just incase to get me where I needed to be (or the nearest garage) Luckily haven't had to use it yet but fits under my gen 2 Tuono hump nae bother

Fortunately never needed them but it could be useful if it does.

I had a nail in the rear of a new freshly scrubbed in Diablo Supercorsa a couple of years back.

I'd just done 70 miles to visit a mate in hospital. Parked up and glanced back at my bike whilst walking away and saw it shining away. It had gone in bent and half sideways.

I googled "Motorcycle tyres" for the town I was in on my phone and luckily for me, there was a place about a quarter of a mile up the road. The tyre still had a fair bit of pressure in. so I rode very slowly there. As easier and quicker than calling OUT the AA. The tyre was wrecked and had to buy another.

Had a front one go properly on the A1 once. Don't know how I stayed on. Needed new pants after that one!

Road chippings and carbon? No!! I turn round the other way I absolutely hate them. And we're supposed to be grateful that they're using the cheapest possible method to resurface the roads. that they have let become a total disgrace, even dangerous! I've heard rumours, that it's cheaper to pay the compensation for damage than to fix the roads properly. But it's probably not true...
We should send more freight by rail. But then you're losing drivers jobs etc, can't advocate that!

The times they put the chipping down time after time but never raise the bastard covers so you end up with them sunk inches into the road pisses me off.
