Has anyone any experience with Continental road attack or sport attack tyres.I have got pirelli dragon super corsa at the moment,They,ve been fine over the dry summer period, but as I don't do track days and I often ride in all weather I'd like something a bit more street biased, that will wear a bit better and grip well in cold damp/wet conditions. I am having a set of Road Attacks fitted to my ZX9R tomorrow as a winter replacement for my Pilot Sports, i went for them after reading as many reviews as i could find, all of which pretty much pointed to them being one of the top all round tyres, they are supposed to be on par with the Sportec M1's in terms of grip whilst giving good mileage.
The new Sport Attacks are starting to get some really good reviews too and are pretty much compared to the Pilot Powers (which i have never heard anyone moan about yet).
My Mille is getting either Pilot Powers or Supercorsa's purely because the ZX9R is what i knock 500 miles a week out on :)

I have had Pilot Powers on two ZX10R's that I have had and can honestly say that they are unbeatable. They offer unreal grip and also great mileage. You cant go wrong with them.

I fitted them to my SP before the Clubaprilia trackday in August - although I had a rather large accident - this was down to the rider rather than the tyres, Francis Williamson (a BSB standard rider) rode the bike before I smashed it up and was very impressed - they are also considerably cheaper than some of the other popular brands - as far as I am concerned they are now my tyre or choice for road and track - apprently the guy who designed them is the same guy who designed the Metzeler Sport-Tecs and a German BMW endurance team did very well in the championship running them. They were going for around £125 + vat a pair when I bought them.

I've just had a look at the Conti website, the Attacks do get good reviews from the press. I may consider even fitting a Sport attack to front and a road attack to rear. My rear pirelli at the moment is a 180, but conti reccommend fitting a 190/50, how do these different sizes affect the handling. Conti prices are very competitive as well so i looks like I may fit some.

Well i have had mine fitted today, it didnt go quite according to plan as the tyres the garage had delivered were in the end a pair of Sport Attacks, i cant really comment on them at the moment as i have literally only ridden back from the garage on them which is 25 miles of straight dual carriageway and all of that was through sodding rain :D
However having had them fitted to my freshly tuned ZX9R, and running them at Conti's recommended tyre pressure (until i can find the psi that works best for me) they were fine from the box, no twitches, handling feels fine and the feedback seems to be good :)

Had a pair of Sportattacks fitted to my 2000 RSVR about 1000 miles ago and I reckon they are excellent. They looked very shiny when I fitted them, but gave me no concerns at all through 100 miles of "enthusiastic" scrubbing in and managed 800 miles of hard cornering around Scotland brilliantly. They steer very well and refused to unstick despite my inept and ham fisted throttle hand technique. Real confidence givers and good in the wet too. Best value tyres around at the moment imho, difficult to fault them. They even seem to be wearing well.

I believe the rear OZ is 5.5 - I'd personally stick with 180 and I'd also stick with the Sport Attacks normally but I guess if you are intending to do the mileage during the winter Road Attacks may be a safer grippier option

I think that may be the wrong way round PAB - the Sport Attacks are the grippier of the two and certainly the ones I would prefer in slippery, slimy, sun free winter Britain. Someone tell me if I'm wrong and I'll stop riding the RSVR so hard !!!!

I did'nt mean it to be the wrong way round - I am told that grippy track type tyres are very grippy when they are hot but in order to last when they are hot and grippy the compound takes longer to warm up thus a road tyre is probably grippier most of the time especially in cold damp winter conditions because the track type tyre simply never reaches it's optimum temperatue - thus (am I boring anyone yet?)...... at this time of the year you will get more grip from a road type tyre than you will from a track type tyre ... any experts ? please jump in here - I am simply repeating what I've been told - but if you think about it, it does make sense ... having said all of that I've got Sport Attacks on my bike.

I'm tempted.
I'll get away with a few more hundred miles out of my Pilot Powers that I have on just now, just enough to keep her ticking over with the odd run here and there in the winter before next season, but I'm tempted to try these Conti's out in place of the Powers next time.

Ah, righto PAB, gotcha now ! The Sport Attack is just that - a Sport biased road tyre, rather than a track biased tyre. Certainly never given a lot of time to warming them up before going for it, although in the general course of events , being slightly more mature, it does take me a little while to get up to speed ! Also of course I've only ridden the Contis in what passes for our summer weather, so, whilst I don't think so, there may be a warm up situation which would make the Road attacks more suited to winter.

[:D]hi i'm new to this site ,i have a tuono factory, the corsa's have only done 1200 mile, knacked rear, and its only run in , want to try the conti, road attack, will the rear start slippin when giving it some .as i use this bike a lot can't be doing sub 3000 mile rears. few have said diablos, had them on a mille ,2500 for a rear. nick saunders used conti' on the r1 around the world ,got 5000 out a rear, thats more like it .[:D]did he use a sport or a road attack.

The review i initially read on the Road attacks suggested that the guy using them did give them a fairly good thrashing (by sports touring standards), and he used 2 rears over a stretch of 8000 miles, added to that they are supposed to give the same sort of cornering as the Sport Attacks but just have a harder centre to the tyre.

Interesting reading! Looks as if I shall try a set of these Continental road attack tyres my Diablo 190/50 has only done a thousand miles and I think I’ll be lucky if I’d get another fifteen hundred miles out of it. If what a few of you have said you get better mileage without loss of grip it has to be a contender!

I finally got a pair of sport atacks fitted this weekend, I've only done about 20 miles on them, it's too cold and the roads are covered in frost so i won't be trying any heroic antics for a while.(what a wimp) I decided to go with Contis advice and fitted the 190 rear. They were not as cheap as some have been paying, these cost £175 fitted and balanced to loose wheels, but the tyre place is only 10 minutes up the road, the next cheapest was a round trip of 40 miles, so it's worth paying a few quid more for convinience.
