theres a time and a place for wheelies ....

how the hell can wheelying a sportsbike be considered anymore dangerous than some of the deliberatly stupid arsed stunts we see car drivers pull on a daily basis ...like opening doors whilst queueing to upset riders that are filtering?
a wheelie is a considered and skillfull operation that takes great skill and control. and i repeat , there is a time and place!
this mass condemnation by the authorities is grossly overdoing it again and deliberate sensationalism for the benfit of the damn mainstream press again...

i call for you all who read this to stop buying newspapers and encouraging this mindless sensationalist sh*theads that are clearly trying to influence the minds of normal good, decent and civil humanbeings..all in the name of selling news!

a little over dramatic maybe??

The only paper I buy is mcn
All other papers seem to be full of propaganda like the above

Or it's full of stupid reality show c**ts that have had labotomys with orange sun tans that live near me
I would not even wipe my ass with the comics on sale today

Most are written by parasites for the low intelligent masses
I used to buy the observer on a sunday for the decent music stuff in the supplements

One of the comments on sky:great skill, good execution, good mechanical sympathy on the front end when landing, good use of correct protective gear, poor choice of photographer__________________

At the risk of getting flamed I have to say personally that i have little sympathy for him or anyone else who gets caught on a major road as he has. We all know the consequences of getting caught.

i admire the skill when done well but the time and the place is not a major A road with traffic around if you want to get away with it.  The very fact someone was close enough behind to film him means it was not the right place and time. Problem is that for every competent wheelie merchant there are 20 nobs who are just as likely to end up being or causing an accident when they copy it. If they do it on a very private road at least it's only there own arse on the line.

We all break the law probably on a daily basis, driving. You know you are doing it, you know 2/3 of coppers will nick you if they catch you doing it. You also know that if it's bad enough to be news worthy they will latch onto it. News papers sensationalise everything. Tits, economies, private lives, law breakers. MCN prints fiction on a weekly basis and calls it news, fact is the truth is usually boring.

Yep, wrong time and place for hoiking the front.  I have too much mechanical sympathy to make mine lift but I do like a big wheelie over crests.  I've never bought a "newspaper" but I do get MCN although in the last few years it's become more like the Sun and has a shed load of "why you should buy a bike through us" articles in it.  Waaay to many ads these days.
Anyway, I'm off to do some burnouts n stoppies.

Ha ha
Too old with too many responabilities these days
Also I don't wanna abuse the r that way

Ohlins don't need an excuse to leak oil
I raced mx and enduro for years

Might get back into enduro that's great fun
Too old for mx
Roads are f**ked these days
It's either go abroad like your good self
Or play the game and have sensible fun

All the days of 160 mph using lanes like the tt are finished
For me anyway

I still see a few people having tear ups when I'm out
I'm happy to do a high beech run early Sunday for a sausage sandwich few brews and to talk bollox

See getting old !

All very true. My sense of self preservation increases with age also.

Some of the breaks that were a badge of honor as a teenager now nag when the weather turns. I do fancy Mx again, but enduro is more like it physically.

I would be fubar after 10 mins of kidney bashing.

Agree with Griff on this one. Its over sensationalised reporting and yet another example of a pukingly patronising police statement, and rings bells close to home.  I was stopped and cautioned on the IOM during the Manx GP for doing speeds of over 140mph and given a lecture about safety.  The reason I was stopped was that the police unmarked bike following me couldn't keep up through the Glen  Helen twisties and radioed ahead to have someone intercept and stop me.  It never got to court as the sergeant agreed that it was sour grapes and that I had not been riding dangerously when the video evidence was reviewed. Anyone who is capable of safely pulling a 103mph wheelie knows how to handle a bike!  As Griff said though there's a time and a place and a busy road at that speed is not the time or the place so the dude should expect the book to be thrown.  That's not the point, the point is the stupid statement that he should be glad that he got away with his life.  It p*sses me off when the police come out with such statements as if NO civilian rider can handle a machine safely.  Yorkshire police have short memories as I seem to remember quite a few of their riders ending up in the ditch when trialling sportsbikes a few years ago. (7 allegedly ended up off their bikes within the first month of trials).  I have a lot of time for the police riders I've met...without exception they've all been great guys.  It's their spokesmen that come out with this patronising crap for the public good message.

Maybe the reason I was ejected from brands hatch 14 years ago
I did an evening track session I entered the race group as it was the only place left
And had a few already book up for it

So I roll up on a battered road gsxr to line up with a few laughs from what I remember 2 x instructors that came across as the most arrogant bell ends I ever met

Was not so funny when both of them got wasted by the sh*tty old gsxr
One of them I remember was using tyre warmers
I was the quickest bike on track that eve until my rear let go at clearways causing a massive slide
I stayed on but that was it for the tyre

I was ejected for aparently using titanium knee sliders !
Mmmmmmm

I remember a few years ago a bloke in Scotland (I think) was snapped by a speed camara as he wheelied past it way above the speed limit.  Thing is, he weelied so high his number plate was not visible to the camara - fair play to that man.  Again, someone who knew what they were doing with a bike.  Maybe I should go to that wheelie school and give it a try ....  Smile
