Any one had any problems with their Speedo suddenly not working?
Happend around the same time I was having trouble with my side stand/tip over switch but both of those issues are now fixed.
I have traced the wires back as far as I can and can't see anything obvious, my next step is to take the dash apart and check the connector. Everything on the right side of the display panel is fine, as well as the rev counter.
If that doesn't do anything then I suppose I have to replace the sensor? Is ther a way of checking that it is working? I have tested two of the pins with a multimeter and there is continuity. Any ideas on the part number or cost. Breakers yeard I suppose is the cheapest method.
Cheers.

www.apriliayorkshire.co.uk
Online parts browser.
8124528 is the part number for a speedo sensor, link here:-
http://www.apriliayorkshire.co.uk/catalogue/partlist.jsp?Catalogo=%3D392Y&Tavola=%3D38&_NomeImmagine=3356368.gif&_bikename=SL%201000%20Falco%202000-2003&_pagename=Rear%20brake%20caliper
£59.85 brand new.
To test the speedo sensor, follow these steps:-
The test at the dash is the following:
WITH THE ENGINE OFF:
1) With the key ON, measure the voltage between the green/purple and blue/orange
wires without disconnecting the connectors. The reading should be more than 9 Volts
dc.
2) Measure the voltage between the grey/white and blue/orange wires without
disconnecting the connectors. The reading should be more than 6 Volts dc.
3) Starting from test 2, turn the wheel so that a screw comes on to the sensor; at that
moment the voltage should go to zero for about 2 sec. and then back to 6 Volts.
If test 1 doesn’t give the above results => dashboard defective
If test 1 is correct but test 2 wrong => sensor defective
If test s1 and 2 are correct but test 3 wrong => sensor defective
If test s1, 2 and 3 are correct but the speed isn’t shown on the dashboard =>dashboard defective
