After selling my 03 RSVR to treat myself for a car for 40th I have been commuting/ days out on an MT07, got it cheap and to be fair does what it needs to, just miss the extra ooofff of something bigger, would love another gen 1 but funds not there, have seen this
What’s thoughts? Also do use to commute for 2nd job which often is 80mile round trip, will this just kill it, also after the MT07 for couple of years will my wrists die!! I’m 6 foot so not to much of a stretch, also appreciate no one can say how I’ll feel, I need to try and ride one

You will fit it fine but not a great bike for traffic so depends on your commute. You would need to check it’s had the swingarm recall and be aware that immobilisor emu’s are prone to failing given their age. Also check the ohlins forks for cracking at the axle clamps.

Owner states not sure if sone but the HPI check he has states all recalls have been carried out, what this be the case, also is there any obvious signs to tell if it has been done?

Don't rely on HPI checks confirm any recalls.
The bad swingarms have two rivnuts installed on the inside of the chain side of the swingarm. The good swingarms have only one. Because of the location of the toe guard bracket it can be difficult to see if the second rivnut is present, but you should be able to tell without any dissassembly. |

No way of predicting the immobilisor problems really as it’s a sealed unit and they just go randomly as they age. When they actually each failure point you can get different symptoms from abnormal idle, failure to start, it starting to burn and melt etc. All gen 2 rsv’s have them fitted.

Ok that’s is that an expensive fix if does, or is it something that can be done before it goes?

If the story is true it probably is fuel related but my head asks why, if it were simple would a seller not do it and lose the money?
I would certainly look at it in the flesh and try starting it in person but if it looks ok, you might have to take a leap of faith.

whatever way you cut it any Aprilia especially a gen 1 or 2 is going to be 100x better than that pizza delivery bike you on right now mate, im 6ft and the Gen2 i found to be a lot more comfy than a Gen1 the V4 fits like a glove.
could you keep the pizza bike for commuting use the RSV for leisure rides?

Just seen this pop up and close to me, similar price to the Factory and same colour scheme, also not been used of late but will have full mot, half the mileage as well was really after the factory, will that be a better option long term, and unless your Haga will I notice the difference other than the visuals???

The oz wheels do make a difference and the ohlins shock resists fade better but I prefer the Showa forks of the base model to the ohlins forks. For me I would take a nice clean base model over a ropey factory every time.

Thanks for thoughts, only thing I would like is a set of akraprovics as love the sound, and don’t see many for sale and if so quite a lot, also would bike need setting up for different exhausts?

they cost a fortune, when it comes to gen 2s you really need to buy the bike with them included, people on here buy and sell them well into the £1000s the last gen 2 rolled of the assembly line 15 tears ago and not many places stock or make gen 2 exhausts.

akrpovics for a gen2 range from 350-600
don’t discount the arrows exhausts as they are a big quality build too

i’d say that’s a late rsv1000 with the online forks
has it got the forged wheels , online rear shock and all the other carbon bits?

They never made a factory in that colour scheme to my recollection . Looks like a later gen2 Rsv when they added ohlins forks to spice it up. No forged wheels, carbon or ohlins shock
