Ok so I thought I would ask here as MV agusta.net are a bit arsey a think you have so much cash floating around that you wipe your arse with £50 notes.
My MV started running on three the other day so stripped the bodywork off to change the plugs. All seemed ok when fireing it up so I reassembled it and took it for a spin. After a couple of miles it started popping from the exhaust on over run and generally running a bit rough. A little further along it went back onto 3 cylinders but given some throttle would pick back up again. Both times it has been #1 cylinder. Does anyone here have any suggestions other than spending £850 on a microtech ECU as has been suggested to me on the MV forum. I am thinking coil as it has 4 individual stick coils

Your help is valued and appreciated.

It’s a good chance it’s the coil as coils on cap do suffer from heat, swap the coils around and see if the problem moves.

Yep although I've been trying to avoid doing it as it is a pain in the rear to do. Think I will buy a couple of coils as Beru don't seem to make them anymore and buying one from a MV dealer is £114 + vat per coil. I have found a shop that has 3 left in stock at £99 each.

Google the part number, a lot of bikes use car coils, my mates benelli tornado uses coils the same on Peugeot cars.

Coils or ht leads would be my starting point if the plugs are new. As it's intermittent it would make sense. Keep us posted Thumbs Up
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Had a bandit with same symptoms and it was a coil so replaced all 4, it is possible that same coils are used on other bikes as hemi mentioned

Some Moto guzzi use the same coil but it's the same problem looking at the Beru website it's only Moto guzzi and MV that use the coil. Champion had a coil that MV used, but I have found out it was made by Beru and had a champion sticker stick on it.
There are second hand coils on flea bay but you don't know what you're getting.

Read it a few times but my coils have a tail that is about 30cm where it plugs into the main wiring loom, the ones shown on the MV Augusta.net ( both the original and replacement ) connect directly to the stick coil, so I assume this is a different coil and possibly not fit my bike.
