So today, chatting to some customers, we get into the hobbies topic and start talking about riding.
He said "no way would I have a bike, I would lose my license" this got me thinking.....

Quite often people say that, but how many people do you know who have actually lost their license from riding. I don't know of any. I have a friend that has come close more than once but he must have a very good solicitor or show off some serious puppy eyes in court.

I think people who come out with those statements are talking bollocks, why hasn't he lost it in his car if he's a hot head , it's like when they say I can't have a bike cause I would kill myself as I'm mad which usually translates to my mom or wife won't let me have one.

Me and my 4 mates been riding for 47 yrs and more , none have lost our license or come close "6 points max " and that's me . Mind you the council ? Have just reduced lots of speed limits around here by 10 mph outside the 30 mph built up areas !

Ha ha Hemi, exactly rite.

They've done or are doing the same around my neck of the woods snowman. Most nationals have been dropped to a 50 yet cars and motorcycle technology are moving on and becoming safer

Haha yeah I've lost count of the amount of times I've heard the "I'd love a bike but I'd kill myself on one" comment.

Ha ha... "I'm mad me... so off the wall and special, that I can't have a motorbike! (or the missus won't let you)"

What was that phrase that made me chuckle?... Ah yes (and no offense meant here, 2 wheels is 2 wheels in my book) "Scooters are for men who want a motorbike, but like to feel the wind on their puss**s" LOL
Question everything.

Before the days of spy cameras , i rode from Wigan to Wisbeach  in Cambridgeshire and back on a DR 400.
No licence.
Got caught in Warrington at the age of 14 on a TL 125.A49 near to what was Fiat . Pulled me because of the home made plate .Feds Had me in the cop shop and my mum had to come and get me.
Had 11 points on my licence and went through a speed trap over the limit and got away with it.
Banned never yet .
Mens wives that rule their lives, hand bags the lot of them.
I used to be uncertain , but now i'm not sure anymore

Almost the same thing as the people who say " I don't do trackdays because although I'm well fast enough I don't want to drop my bike"

I've found most people that come out with that are scared of bikes. I've offered rides to loads of me mates to borrow me bike for a see how it feels and they all say no with some long convuluted excuse on why they said no there's a bloke over here even admitted to me that he'd love a bike but his missus won't let him have one     I even told him if he got one he could keep it at mine and he still said no in case she found out whiiiiiiiip craaaaaaack
ive just got my first vtwin and i think i got the right one

Thats almost me but I am slow. Its like some mental ocd............I just dread the thought of dropping a bike. Maybe its because I know a bike dropped on a track  would more than likely  be a write off. I really need to buy a sh*t bike and go on a track day and learn to let go and "feel" the limit.
Funny.............the things I can do in a car .............don't ever get in a car with me and tell me you are in a hurry , but on a bike its different. Its not that I'm scared of falling off , im not, I just can't disrespect the equipment. Anyway , on my to do list .

I know exactly that feeling carena. Lost me licence a couple of times due to cars but never a bike. For some reason I was never scared about crashing a car but I don't wanna crash a bike. I think it's cos they cost more to fix and it's more likely to be written off than a car

When anyone says to me "I wouldn't have a bike as I'd probably kill myself" I just reply "That's a shame" they usually stand there for several seconds trying to figure out quite what it was I meant.
