It was so busy there he didn't know which way was up and I think he is in danger of friction burns if he moves any quicker.

Hi Griff, what is the maximam difference backwards compared to original footrest ?
When I drive I'd like to keep my foot as the rest is under the toe so I could use set with maximun 4 inch/ 10 cents difference ! |

They move 1 inch in each direction from the oem position. 4 inch difference would probably foul the swingarm or exhaust header. Never heard of anyhting move that far. |
