Agreed but a rusty hammer shows a complete lack of respect for the patient.

Hi Mark. I got home tonight in a good mood and seeing your bike again has just done me in. I shouldn't have feelings for things made of metal

Hey Rattus ,you'd be fair motoring at that point ,could be wrong but it looks to be around the or just before the Veranda/Bungalow section.
Bet that may you wince. Has the rivnut put an impression in the aluminium ? What's the plan of attack ? Are you going to re work the frame there ? Ted. |

Mark I have probably got a couple of bits and pieces in the shed if they are any use mate. I will have a look and see what's in there. Will not be any big panels but might have a clock cover, rear light surround .... That sort of stuff. If you want them mate they are yours, just pay a few pennies for postage

in the picture the bike is facing the wrong way and is pointing back towards Ramsey . As for the frame ...where the airduct was ripped off its pulled the aluminium around the rivnut out so its proud of the frame..can't see any cracks or any other damage should be able to dress it back down? Was thinking off running the bike into motoliner at maidstone to have the frame checked for straightness... |

It'll get there. You had it on the jig? I have to say, all things considered, it doesn't look too bad. For example a mate of mine had his SV650 knocked over a few years back. Every panel damaged apart from the side fairing on the other side, tank, peg, clipon, lever etc etc. Basically everything you are having to replace but after a stationary accident so for a 90mph off she looks remarkably well.

You may not see it. Get her up and running and get out for a spin. It's amazing how odd a bike can feel with just a tiny twist. |

Guys .... Just before I went to the TT I fitted a rebuilt set of forks and never got them set up properly I had a play but they were way too soft think I can remember the mudguard scraping under heavy braking ....if the forks were that soft and the rubber indicator on the fork leg suggests they bottomed out could this have caused me to lose the front???
Basically the guy braked in front of me I tried to swerve round him and cut back into the corner and slid off |

Scraping on the tyre or fairing as it is connected to the bottom fork leg so can't catch the tyre?

Theoretically yes. If the forks were bottomed out from heavy braking, serious front end load entering the corner or the transition from left to right or vice versa and you hit a bump, the lack of absorption would unsettle the bike. A big enough bump could kick the front wheel up and if the rebound wasn't set fast enough to catch it then washing out is a definite possibility. |
