first signed up to this site when i owned a 2000 rsvr .long since gone
am now building a bike using a few aprilia bits... i have a trx850 frame that now sports a tuono swingarm and rear wheel... front will shortly have a mille showa front end... before i had the swingarm modified it had 2003 date stamped on the spindle tube ( now cut off and trx spindle tube insitu) ... like a lot of us ..when they appear ...i snapped up a bay bargain for the chain runner/chain guard and guard for the cable/rear brake line.... what i have for the chain runner is too long, rear chain guard doesnt line up to any bolt inserts in swing arm and the residual bend in the plastic for the cable/brake line doesnt match any shape on the swing arm ... so not such a great bargain ... hey ho ... not wanting to spend more until i have it sorted ..... long drawn out story over my question/s could i have a later model swingarm? despite the date stamp?... or did i just buy crap that was for a completely different aprilia .. |

Could be the ancillaries are for the later model? Up to and including 03 was the rounded "banana" swingarm. 04 on was the angular "gullarm" swingarm. Stick a photo of it all up. A picture tells a thousand words.

That's for Milles I should add. Banana arm lived on to 05 on the Tuono. Photo will provide the answers.

Which of course means we should ask if it has 1 or 2 rivnuts on the inside of the left spar? If 2 it's pre recall and prone to cracking. If 1 it's bob on. Apologies if I'm being the harbinger of doom but you have a nice special on the go and it's worth making sure it's all tip top. Looks good with the trellis frame. Always had a bit of a thing for TRXs. What's your overall plan for it?

Working away now .. But think it has 2 rivets ...😳 where are they prone to crack? Doesn't sound good. Got a Mille Showa front end to go on it.. Have a trx engine for it but it's not the prettiest .. Will probably look for a good one at some point .. Will be of use to get the offset front sprocket sorted though .. Was hoping to chop the back end and get a panigale rear end on it

Yes , however you could end up making it potentially worse
If you weld it you will introduce stresses and material hardness that was never designed into the original design . You may be better just to keep an eye on it. Rather than welding |
