OK, I did have a little look using the search facility but I can't find an answer....

I have serviced my Mille now and fitted a Pipercross airfilter and carbon fibre Akrapovic cans - so I guess that the engine now needs a map to suit. I seem to remember reading something about there being two maps on a Gen 2 ECU and you can switch from the standard map 1 to a better map for this set-up 2 - but how can this action be performed?

As ever, TIA chaps.Thumbs Up

Same map, but the exhaust variant can be set to open loop which means it ignores the Lambda readings and doesn't try and run the bike lean = Runs a lot better, smoother and more go.
Needs an Axone plugged into it to switch and the Co will need to be set as it will have altered having switched things around.

My understanding is that either a main aprilia dealer can do it (about £45-£50) or if you have an Axone (software to change the map) pretty sure Griff has the software!

HI guys, this might seem like a daft question, but if I also change my 08 RSVR from Map1 to Map2 (waiting for my PiperX Filter) will I need to change it back if I have a PCV fitted? Confused

no just leave map2 in place the pcv will overide it
if you are going this route have an individual map for each cylinder done to eek out the last bit of power

Thanks Redratbike - I'm glad you're online this morning Wink

I may just call Mototechniks (Aprilia Dealers) in Stowmarket, Suffolk and ask them how much they'll charge me to switch my Maps?

What else will they need to do i.e: TB's and CO etc, as I may as well get them to fit my PiperX filter at the same time? But do I also buy that Open race filter kit (gasket) ? Just worries me that the filters open 24/7? Confused

as per other thread its not open..its sealed against the tank

£40 should see map 2 switched over ...do all this including the evo if you are going to fit it then tb and co

as Ed says in his website

RACE AIRKIT BENEFITS:

Fitting an open airkit to your Aprilia gives a noticeable power gain in the midrange.

We see approx 6bhp gain on average. This kit also gives your bike a nice air
induction sound.

The standard Aprilia airbox is very restrictive.

heres a pic of the airbox kit,so its lid off rubeer and metal bit screwed down..rubber seales against edge of tank ..instant bigger airbox

see pic not one of ed's but same idea

Awesome! Thanks RedRat Thumbs Up

I think part of the rubber seal to the PiperX filter needs cutting off in order to fit my 08 Rsv correctly?

Just messaged the guy on Ebay to find out whereabouts he is in Essex. Although I'll not be able to purchase until end of month.

Just out of curiosity, how do they correct the TB's and CO? Is it all done on a computer?

I've decided not to fit my Air filter until I've bought the Evo open air fitment :)
