Recently bought an Aprilia RSV mille R from a nice chap in Oxford. She is mechanically sound as a pound but the paintwork, stickers etc are in need of attention. He rode it everyday for 5 years too and from work so as he said, she might not be the prettiest girl around but she sure is mechanically mint as he used her daily....said he had two problems, one was slenoid went once and the wiring rubbed through on frame somewhere...both were done by a garage.

anyway, here are some pics which i'll update as I go through the paint etc....

Decals are faded and cracked or peeling pretty much all over it.....

So an hour of fettling around and she's down to her bare....waiting for her new dress.....

Ah, you've added more pics!  Does look a bit rough around the edges.  Are you sending it away for a full strip/re-paint or are going DIY?

Mate of mine looked at that one but was too much work for him. Get it for a good price? It just had a speedo sensor too and as you say mechanically seemed sweet.
Looking forward to seeing it all sorted again.

Redrat, cheers for that...will give griff a ring in couple days for them.  WOOdzy, thats pretty good mate, like it.
I'm going to go for a more italian way on this one I think....obviously ducati are up there with they're style, and they have some lovely ideas.  Something with inspiration from say......

Red is going to feature in it heavily, I know that much now but I''m stuck on whether its going to be a solid red, pearl, or the infamous and expensive candy red.

Loving the black swingarm which I think would look great on the rsv, but I'm not 100% and don't want to get it wrong as thats alot of polishing to do to get it back if I don't like it!!!....yes, i'm loosing sleep...so mch easier when a customer says "I want this".....

Wiggin....didn't come down from peterbourough did he?

Actually, to me yeah it was a good price.  Got it for £2000 which for an R with good mechanics was what I was looking for.  To be honest I was suprised it was still around for the money I got it for...ok, so I knocked him down £500....everyones a winner...

Yeah, little bit like that...got a couple of ideas that i'm going to experiment on.

v60rsvr its got 20,000 on the clock with full service.  Just had oil, plugs, water, etc changed, tappets checked and adjusted...

Update.....finally got all the stickers off and the bloody glue, I hate sticker removal, takes me back to my days as an aprentice in the bodyshop!!

Next up is the keying and picking out what panels will need high build or acid etch primers ets.  In an ideal world would like to have it all primered up by next friday...I don't do anything on her on the wkends. To busy enjoying myself...

Ahhhhh, now that is something similar to what I had in my head.  Funny, I was just laying in the bath thinking what about black white.

I really like what your mate has done here. Your mate has a good eye!

Redrat, cheers man, not to worry who painted it, just kinda asked out of general interest.
