dead battery?

   hi mille fans,i took my pride and joy out 4 a blast on wednesday as it was a nice day and did around 100 miles with no problem at all,i came to start it today (saturday) and it did not want to know!!! i have hooked it up to the optimate for 5 hours and on returning the optimate is showing a red light saying weak?? i have tryed to start it again but nothing,is it normal 4 the battery to give up the ghost this quickly or have i got a more terminal problem,please help i am really pisssed off!!!!![:(]
