Welcome to the site, I bought a ’01 RSVR in Oct and went through all the worries and concerns about Italian bikes, reliability, build quality, spares availability etc etc . but so far it’s been a revelation. It’s very well built with high quality components and looking at reviews, reading forums and the like only reveals a couple of potential issues, sprag clutch, charging system, minor electrical problems but on the whole there’s not much to worry about.

I’d say that main thing to look for is a complete and through service history, as with any vehicle it’s condition after 10-15 years is almost totally down to how it’s been looked after, any dogs out there are nearly always the result of indifferent maintenance, cutting corners ignoring service intervals and using cheap inferior components will eventually cause serious issues. Find a cherished bike with a complete SH and a bundle of receipts and you won’t you far wrong.
