Just got back from Portugal. The Algarve Autodrome at Portimao is bloody fantastic.
The main ( covered )grandstand is a quarter mile long three stories high with lifts. From there you can see the bikes for 85 % of the circuit, with a couple of big screens thrown in for the rest. the circuit has 75000 seats and all backed up by first class infrastruture. There are hundreds of toilets and attendents cleaning them
what a good do it was better than anything i've seen in the UK - if you get a chance go Edited by YorkyMart - 07 Nov 2008 at 22:47 |

Sounds a hell of a lot better than the **** we,re supposed to accept in this country. Not been to any wsb or gp events this year for the first time in so long. Im sick of seeing nothing whilst sat on wet grass , eating expensive crap and crossing your legs. Why cant the Brits do anything like this. God help the 2012 Olympics. So Ive decided to save up and travel to see racing in the future. How did you get to Portimao, Bike, car plane? Jools

I flew from Manchester to Faro with Monarch, the flight was £200 return, we made a weeks holiday of it by booking a hotel on last minute dot com. The circuit itself has a dedicated access road from the A22 motorway so is no more than 1 hour from anywhere on the Algarve. From Pria de Rocha it is about 20 minutes.
A full weekend pass for the main grandstand was £50. There was a realy good atmosphere in the hotel lots of support staff for the racing staying there, we even said hello to James and Jack from Eurosport at breakfast one morning
Compared to Donington it is another planet

not been to the circuit but the ride down from Santander into Portugal is a very good one if you want a bit of a tour. There are some excellent roads in Portugal and you can take in the Picos Mountains en route.
