In this instance a business unit in the NHS who have investigated my wife signing to say she has a medical exemption certificate ...which she does... and issuing a fine as they can't find a record of it
Fek wits she only picks the stuff up every month and has to show the card to use it

My missus has COPD so she gets free road tax. Last month she couldn't find her entitlement number and so couldn't tax the car. DVLA sent her reminders and threatened her with a fine if she didn't tax the car so the missus decided she'd rather just pay for her "free" tax rather than be fined. DVLA wouldn't accept the payment as her tax was free and if she didn't pay her "free" tax they would fine her Wacko. Idiots.
An hour on the phone and she eventually found out her entitlement number and taxed the car for nowt. Pr**ks.

Don't start me.

My dad has advanced Alzheimers and is in a home generally. We got extra funding for him to have an exclusive 1 to 1 in the care home as he is often agitated, unable to talk or eat unaided, doubly incontinent etc etc.

He was admitted to hospital last Friday for Pneumonia and is still there. The hospital have him in a  private room and say he needs 1 to 1 because he is pulling the tubes out etc etc and they don't have the staff. However the home won't allow the 1 to 1 that is paid for by the NHS to come to the hospital and instead he is on "other duties"

We checked with the NHS  and the 1 to 1 funding is attached to my father, not the home so should go wherever he goes but say they have no power to intervene. So essentially the home have a member of staff twiddling his thumbs paid for by my fathers NHS funding and my Dad is sitting on his own for long periods, often having pulled his drip etc out, undressed himself and crapped over himself.

It's bloody mad, the whole thing is a bureaucratic nightmare.

Bloody hell Spoonz mate that's so bloody wrong. The nurse should be with your dad. That's care home getting away with it. Can you not complain to the management or hospital. Your dad needs round the clock care. Bet you it's care home being awkward. I hope the situation gets resolved soon for your dad's and the families sake mate
born ugly what's your excuse!!

One of my friends is an A&E nursing Sister, she has a management team of nearly 20 . One part of the team just produce statistics on types of injuries, one on the medications used and one on the over all performance.

She got pulled off duty the other day to be told that they were treating too many broken bones and had gone outside the league table limits !!

Spoonz that's awful such a ridiculous system and all too often people are de- humanised and just become numbers and statistics! My wife is a nurse on a&e and amu and the strain and pressure on all the staff is the worst she has ever known it and they know that they need to do more but there just isn't enough of them.
To make this worse last week she had to do a course which ment dropping a shift only to turn up expecting a full day and instead do three hours of mindless team building and making models out of spaghetti because some of the reps hadn't turned up. You couldn't make it up. Each and everyone of us who pay our tax payed for that and that's just one ward one hospital one morning and 30 nurses not working at an incredibly busy time.
You can't fault the staff they work hard but the people at the top are just wasting so much money on unnecessary drugs and resources care where it's needed is suffering.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

I often wonder if the whole country has gone too management heavy?

I seem to recall things used to be just fine in the days before Health Boards and management targets came into being.

If we got rid of several layers of highly paid bureaucrats that would also free up the budget to get more of the people that really matter, the workers on the front line.

The old saying " those that can,do.  Those that can't, teach/manage etc"   still holds good today

Matron?  Are there Matrons any more?

I thought they'd been axed in favour of Senior Nursing Officers or something equally  modern  and trendy

I know someonr who works for the NHS in admin, she has always ticked the 'doesn't have to pay' box due to being unemployed and alays got away with it. IMO the NHS i a joke, the sooner it's privatised the better and i have a long term illness. The bastards withheld a copy addressed to me of a letter sent from my local hospital to my GP explaining my on going treatment untill i paid £2 because they hadn't franked it Thumbs Down

HOLY f**k!
Here's why I would stand up with anyone with a cross to bear.
My son is autistic and ,say or call me what you like , he was damaged by vaccination.
Plenty people, including friends give all manner of finger pointing at me and nat. fortunately, we know the truth but others don't accept it because their kids are " lucky" .
Here's a comment from the professor in charge of Blackpool social services at a panel of 10 people when we tried to get Stann in a special school.
Quote, " you shouldn't insist on him going to that place, he will have that stigma with him for the rest of his life" .
What like he hasn't got enough stigma with the jags they gave him.
Yes don't get me started either.
Don't make to many waves though , they send the cops round if you tell them the truth and the cops arrest you. Try getting them round for a bike theft. Yes you know the answer don't you.
I feel sorry for NHS staff. Just another victim of a government scheme. I feel sorrier for the people on the receiving end even more as the government don't even consider you.

I used to be uncertain , but now i'm not sure anymore

No no no!
Have you any idea what privatizing healthcare means and what effect it will have on people?
I will tell you as I'm a first hander on this one.
I lived in France for 5 years and had a " Cart vital" My pay was Euro 1700 each month. You pay your income tax annually by inspection by service d'impot. I had to pay another insurance for the event of unemployment too.
My healthcare only was Eu 800 each month . On top I had to pay private insurance at a cost of E 165 . Pay for a doctors visit Eu25. For a pin to be put in my shoulder , eleven stitches , air lift to hospital , the anesthetist and after care Eu 29000. I had to pay that!
My insurance got me 70% back .
What makes you think it will be better . Don't you see that the government control the purse strings ?
Granted it needs sorting out as institutions take the piss but it's the government who want a slice.70% of politicians have holdings in private healthcare companies  . Don't believe me . Have a mooch and you will find out.
So, when you come to claim on a vehicle policy for a none fault accident ,they might say have you had a health insurance claim. See where it's possibly leading too.
just saying.
I used to be uncertain , but now i'm not sure anymore

Perhaps this is a bit too simplicity but if we started by getting out of the Eu  promptly followed by a immediate block of all foreign aid this might help
Followed swiftly by not treating any non British passport holders until they had arranged finance like most other countries do in some form. The surplus management not previously sacked could look after this.

I really don't see the problem with having to show entitlement by passport

Might not solve everything but it should be enough to start with.
