Well, 2 meetings in and I'm kind of losing interest already...I know it was great racing at Philip Island, but it's always great racing there, but this weekend was back to normal and I just can't see anybody stopping Rea.
He is the best rider out there, on the best bike (or certainly on a bike that's at least on a par with anything else) and he's riding great, but it's just a bit meh already, or am I just being moody? And is it just me , because I just cannot warm to Johnny Rea at all, not just because he's winning, certainly not because he isn't English, I just can't help thinking he comes across as a right smug tw@t every time I see him or hear him🤔.... probably just me |

He does come across as a bit smug Can't deny his talent, but I do feel a bit cold to him as well. Bit of a one horse race atm. Plus I do tend to support the underdogs. Weird I know.
Remember blummin Foggy though? Got to be one of the smuggest Says he had to be that way to do what he did in racing and that maybe so. But after all this time, he's still a big headed twonk (to me at least) John Surtees (RIP ) and the racers of that era. Sporting gentlemen, great determination and skill, but also good losers as well (generally). Maybe I'm looking through rose tinted spectacles? but I'm happy to hold this view -even if it's wrong. |

I'm the same about Rae, y here's just summat about him, that I can't take to. As for fog arty, he's just an arrogant, ignorant Pr**k. Allus has been, allus will be.

Glad to know it's not just me that's not in the Johnny Rea appreciation society then ...
I'm sure he's a lovely bloke and maybe it's just how he has to be to do what he does, but I just can't help wanting to slap him every time I see him , great rider though and he should be in moto gp if truth be told because he'd definitely do a job on the right bike. I just hope Davis can go on a good run starting at Aragon and Melandri can start throwing some of his moves at Rea |

i've seen this mentioned in other places and i don't get it. i've always liked Rea. i watched a recent BBC NI documentary on him which i thought it was interesting and he came across really well.
he had years of over-performing on the CBR which was highlighted even more after he switched with others not able to perform to his level over a season (the odd podium here and there for others since). to be a champion you have to have a level of confidence and self belief but i don't think he is especially smug. worth remembering Chaz had a great second half of the season last year and won more races. he's closer to the front from the start this season so when the races come to tracks that suit ducati/davies combo then things might get more interesting. Rea will have to work a bit harder this year i think. |

Mmm,wake me up when it's over will you?
I have to say I get more pleasure and involvement watching clubbie racing or even trackdays then the stuff on tv these days It's all gone F yawn, has more in common with a video game than real world racing I've just heard that my trackday bud has entered the British SuperMono championship this season so that should be fun, close racing that anyone can identify with at tracks you know |

I must admit I prefer BSB, but road racing has always been my fave.
Hoping to get out to watch some club days and hopefully some on here at trackdays like you. I'd love to spend the summer in Ireland, riding to all the road stuff though. Still a prob with mobility and had some bad news about a knee replacement. But I is so fed up, not being able to do what I want, that I would crawl across broken glass etc ha ha |

Unfortunately the regs in wsb still favour the deepest pockets. You can't really imagine a privateer ever winning a WSB race unless there is a monsoon.
It can and does happen in BSB, partly due to regs and partly that the more nadgery tracks don't benefit from the power difference a "factory" bike might have over a private entry. Motogp is really the same as WSB in respect of Factory power. It's just good to watch for the more outspoken characters in it if it kicks off. If it were a field of dovi's who are about as interesting as watching paint dry then it would be the same. I can't watch it anyway as i won't pay BT £25 a month for the 1 program that is worth watching. |
