Last winter I checked my valve clearances and 1 was tight on the limit and a few others were close.
Decided that now's the time to change some shims.
I've had the cams out of a GPz1100 to replace under bucket shims, so just looking for tips on the Aprilia V2 (Gen 1 Tuono in this case) to make the job as easy as poss.
I've read the AF1 sites Falco valve shim replacement pages...he unbolted the sprockets from the cams and didn't remove the tensioners; it all seemed quite straight forward this way.
Obviously I'll mark the cams / sprockets and lock wire the chain to the sprockets.
Anyone done the procedure this way and or suggest any other tips?

People say I don't know Jack Sh1t; but I do, he lives next door.

I know this is Gen2 but i would imagine it's similar regarding the tensioner.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

for timing the engine when you've done adjustments this thread may be useful

I found two things when I last did a clearance check (suzuki but same principle)

a) you may find that by juggling shims between valves you can adjust all without recourse to new shims

and

b)  My local dealer (also Aprilia ) operated a free swap if I needed any shims

I found this out the hard way as I adjusted one head first then had to go back and reclaim one of the shims I'd swapped out from the first head while doing the second.
