There is no problem with leaving the diag connector active. Not sure why you would want to though to be honest.
 
Don't be surprised if the reading changes after a ride, the dash method of adjustment is extremely fickle with temps/vibration etc possibly altering it, making it about as accurate as measuring wind speed with a wet finger. If it's ball park I wouldn't worry if the dash flickers between different readings after use.

Spoonz many thanks for the reply mate ?
My efi light is flashing and when I did the check it came up code 1 so I reset the tps back to 0 but didn't know if I had to leave the wire s connected and run the bike or not If that doesn't work and it still flashes have you any ideas !

Try cleaning the air sensor connections in the left air duct. Prone to water ingress. If that doesn't fix it try replacing the diode pack in the tail. It's not expensive so worth replacing to eliminate it.

Hi Spoonz , I've just let the bike have a good worm up this morning and it's showing code 35 , I haven't been out on it yet as its belting down up hear only run it in the garage . Any advice is much appreciated   Cheers

It's an ignition error for coil 1 on the rear cylinder.

If it happened at startup i wouldn't worry too much as the heavy current draw from the starter can make the ecu throw up random codes. If it returns on a ride then maybe there is an issue.

Hi Spoonz, just to say a big thanks mate, I went out on Sat. with the wires connected and the clocks showed 35 , I disconnected the wires and went out Sunday and the clocks are working fine , NO efi light and the temp gauge is working as it should. Cheers Nigel
