Hi all. Just a quick note to say welcome to my rebuild thread. Initial post may make you sleepy but other than that it should hopefully be updated with brief descriptions and the occasional pictures lol.
So the missus wanted a RS125 so we started looking for an old bone to rebuild and restore as I've done various bike rebuilds and restorations over the years and we wanted this one to be a labour of love and personal. Found this. Year 2000 rs 125 in a real sorry state. Those where the pics from the seller. The rest of it was in boxes. Had it delivered and half heartedly placed it together to see what else was needed so it looked like this. Stripped her back down and the deep clean now begins along with starting to gather parts so she currently looks like this. That's after about 3 hours stripping and cleaning by me and the missus lol. Parts list needed so far and to be updated as and when. Throttle cable. Bought Speedo cable. Bought Screen frame. Screen. Bought Right bar. Bought Power valve actuator and cable. Bought. Battery. Bar weights sorted from Mr Miller on here. Cheers. Inlet manifold. Chain and sprockets. Left and right rearsets. Bought Brake pedal. Mirrors and fittings. Bought Grips. Bought Lots of screws, Nuts and bolts. Oil pipe from 2 stroke tank to dosing pump. Bought Various other parts like consumables etc plus planning an engine rebuild. So its a bit of a list but it will be done sooner or later lol. If you want to see this rise from the ashes or have any parts for sale then keep checking back and I will try keep the updates from myself or from my good lady fairly frequent. I must say she's planning an excellent finish and I'm sure she will post pics of what we are aiming for. |

That dont look in that bad nick at all mate. Mines got a lot more corrosion than that. Looking forward to following this, I think your build will be significantly quicket than mine though You never know ya luck, Spoonz might give us our own RS125 section on here |

Now there's a thought Spoonz. A project rebuild section or a RS125 section. I've got a bit of nasty rust here and there slackey like rear disc and left inner leg plus chain was like a girder that had been folded by superman lol. Frame also needs a bucket of polish lol.

I had to use bolt croppers to cut my chain off and the bend it away from the sprocket😂
My frame has a lot of white surface corrosion. It will all polish out but I am thinking of powder coating the frame and swing arm black so it matches my bike😉 |

I did see the pics of the colour scheme you've chosen on your thread. My missus has chosen a cracking colour scheme but will leave it to her to reveal the details. |

Where is that kit from as we've not seen that one and it seems to be missing a few unless there's more included. My missus spoke to someone yesterday that does the full complete kit specifically for the RS 125 |

Just a quick one today. Dirty carb cleaning time. Not only did it look like it had been dunked in tar and grit and oil on the outside. It looked like someone had filed it with incredible hulk snot.

That was the before and after a scrub in petrol followed by a full strip and scrub in the kitchen sink and 2 dozen cotton buds and another scrub and rinse in clean petrol. Finished off by blowing everything through to ensure no blockages etc and all now looks good.

Not much going on with the build today as Weather's not good plus I've got my son this weekend and waiting parts.
Throttle cable I ordered turned out to be out of stock 2 days after I had paid for it Grrrrrrr. On a plus side the postman delivered these today so must say a massive thanks to Mr Miller (forum member) A lovely blue to go with the colour theme planned for the mini Haga rep. These will be modified slightly and will update how and why once they are done. Thanks Mr Miller |

They're great little bikes. Raced one in a one-make series in Oz and the only problem was a couple of stripped balance gears (plastic crap). So easy to work on and ride fast around corners!

Quick update. Bike is in a million bits now but it's all clean. Decided to pull the head off while engines out. Just for peace of mind but wish I hadn't.
So now the shopping list has grown. Now need a cylinder and piston and also found the end has snapped off the power valve blade along with the cable. Plus discovered the inlet manifold rubber is past its best. Sometimes I wonder why I buy project bikes but it's still not going for scrap yet. Priority now is to get parts needed to rebuild the top end and get her running. If all sounds good in the bottom end once she's running then the project will continue. Random pictures will be added whilst waiting for parts etc. |

It's a possibility Ian. Things to consider are, rebore and then re plate and a new piston and rings to suit verses ,repair and re plate and a new piston, verses, a top end rebuild kit consisting of new cylinder and piston with rings and all necessary gaskets ready to just bolt on. Another option is a second hand head kit but I'm not overly keen on that. I need to send some emails and write some numbers down to see what's best. |

Long overdue update.
Bought Lots of parts over the past few months so the parts needed list has shrunk. Now need. Cylinder temp sensor, Front clock mount/fairing support, Chain and sprockets, Rear disc and pads, Some bodywork and the odd bits and pieces here and there. We ended up replacing the cylinder with a genuine aprilia item but it was a refurbished item by PJME with a new liner and rebored 1mm oversize with a new piston and rings etc. So the rebuild has begun on the engine. Top end done and hopefully water pump rebuild soon followed by engine setting up correctly with all cables adjusted for dosing pump and Rave valve etc. Maybe even get her fired up over the bank holiday weekend if all goes well. |

It's gonna be a Haga rep rep lol. Her choice and a good one. There's a pic further up showing the decals kit it's getting. Have already got a suitable front wheel that needs minor machining to work with speedo drive etc and looking for a rear soon when funds allow. |

Just like the OZ wheels on my Haga. I need to get it measured and then get spacers machined etc plus need to have a bit shaved off one side for speedo housing to fit etc. The pictures in my head but need to get proper measurements done and then get spacers made. Engine to sort first though. I was going to put a complete later front end on and the later digital dash and wiring which uses a rear wheel speed sensor like the rsv but will see if I can pull off my original plan first. |

Another update.
Been rather busy as I'm between jobs at the minute and due to start my new job tomorrow. Today I managed to test fit the wheels that I purchased that are from a later newer shape rs125 so they weren't a direct fit but definitely have the look I want for what's going to be the Haga rep rep 125 lol so I've pulled the 5 spokes off and swapped them for these. Rear obviously needs painting and I still need to sort the front wheel speedo drive but I've got a few plans to work with before I get the wheel machined down. Fitted a nice brembo front disc that's been sat in the garage that was a spare for my RSVR and we've refurbished the front caliper so it's at least starting to get the look we want. Start new job tomorrow so may be a while until next update whilst I get settled in to new work routine. Still a fair bit to go. |

De- restricted form will produce 30BHP.
Have you got it to run yet TT? Just laughed when i saw the size of the reed block house on the back of the cylinder. Quite obvious that someone had performance in mind there. Looking good.
