With a lot of mucking about, and rubber mallets,

its on, its never coming off.

blew a 96DB at 4500k at the snett which is all i wanted, its a lot quieter on the road also.

First time on track with the Mille and first time at snetterton, went slow but had a great day got the brand new tyres scrubbed in as well

4,500k is generous! Think at Cadwell I've had a range between 5,500k and 7,500k. Either way I'd be happy with 96dB. That's near stock exhaust levels really, but without all that weight hanging off the side of your bike.

Glad you had a good day. These bikes belong on track I think.

yeah it was my main concern, to be honest i could of done 3k the guy already had the pass sticker in his hand, MSV are top boys, the no limit boys on the other hand, turning away R6s with a slip on ???? that was at silverstone.

bike felt great i had 2 wobbles, i locked up the rear coming into the first hairpin, and a sweeping right with a odd groove carved into the surface, someone actually high sided a big bang R1 on this odd grove part as well which i was shocked by.

Ah right I thought it was always the MSV guys (circuit staff) noise testing at the MSV circuits as it is their responsibility. Like the marshalls. At least at Cadwell I think I've seen the same staff with both MSV and No Limits. Think the noise testing varies from circuit to circuit though, probably dependent on how strict the noise restrictions are on the circuit.

I think without a proper slipper clutch the back end locks up often on track. Normally a waggle side to side with the odd bounce. The bike has that much engine braking that when the rear is lightened under braking it just skids along. The best I can do is use the clutch for downshifts and really stretch out the release of it to smooth the transition. I'm not sure this is any better/faster/safer than just letting it skid but it feels more sympathetic to the transmission and tyre.

What happened to you on the groove?

yeah its just years and years of jap 4cyl and never having owned a twin and its rather different, what your saying rings true with me, as i dumped the clutch it was a big lock up but it just did its thing and i was actually lined up perfectly for the entry.

do you know the groove im talking about? its a mess, what happened was a strange sensation because i was aware of it and started to roll on the power i then "fell" into the groove like a train on a rail, for asplit second i got the sensation of falling if that makes sense and it just sh*t me up for a few seconds but a lot of newcomers in the white group where all saying similar stuff about it. also the sweeping right corner with 60 apexes has a odd tarmac repair job that look like braintree council filled in 10 minutes ago in between lunches.

but after lunch i was settling into it all and really started to understand the track.

I haven't ridden Snetterton yet. That sounds like a rut caused by cars. Well it's poor pavement design really but it will have been cars that created the dip probably.

To be honest whether a problem is there or not I always have something in the back of my mind when riding along even a join in asphalt. Like the one that runs through the middle of Chris curve at Cadwell, or the fast left leading onto the back straight at Parcmotor. Doesn't really do anything but I'm always waiting for a slide. Don't know if it's really just all mental or if I'm just going far too slow to trouble the bike over it.

you did well to get a sympathetic tester at Snetterton.

The normal bloke who is there is normally a right pain and is very well known for it. Should be 5k for a v twin over 750cc so pucker result. Maybe he just likes Aprilias?

I always had the Rsv what question also 😆😆

Yes was turned away with a gen1 with Redrat collector and RSV4 akrapovic. Once baffle was in it scraped through. Never an issue on the Gen2 (other than the routine Rsv what question)

Haha what's the correct answer to that question meant to be? Does he not know his bikes and just want to know the capacity and number of cylinders?

If he's relaxed he might have been ready to pass you based on your bike not making a lot of noise as you pulled up. I guess you get pretty good at estimating if you're testing dozens of bikes each day.

I put my stock exhaust on ready to get my bike MOT'd at the end of the month. My race can without baffle is very loud (think tested as 107dB at Cadwell) but I swear at higher revs there's not that much between the race can and the stock one. Think most of the noise of open exhausts is lower down the rev range.

Shame the stock exhaust weighs as much as it does because I think I'd actually use it otherwise. Power is decent wide open, it's polite at low revs but you don't lose much at all at high revs on track. Consistently testing 97dB or less (at 6k rpm) takes a huge strain off riding track in the UK.

just looked it up the corner is called oggies and as i said the other day it put 2 bikes over. it got me first time round and i thought... f**k that and just took it wide after.

but reading all you lot's comments makes me think it was more of a lax day, some guy said that ducati UK actually came down to quiz the track management as they were snowed under with complaints from angry customers not being able to take a bone stock 11 or 1299 on track due to noise. the other comment a staff member made was "now days even if its too loud but bone stock we have to let them on"

who knows.
