Hi peeps. Right I've got a leak/split in rad. So I need to take it off to get it fixed but no matter how hard  I try just can't get bolts on top free. Any advice as to how to take it off bearing in mind I'm  a complete numpty mechanically. Also what other bolts do i have to remove. Having to try to do it myself and send radiator off to be fixed cos I'm skint. Also any idea how much a 07 (on 08 plate) tuono is worth. Done around 26k  (replacement clocks around 4k). Been griffed last few years. Akras and standard cans, taller screen, renthall ultra low bars fitted (standard ones too), ap rearsets, standard pillion and aprilia extra padded pillion seat, rentec rack also, new m7rr tyres last year (900 miles on them). Might be selling cos I'm not using it (being a carer I'm seeing bills go up and f*$k all coming in). Just wondering what they were fetching these days  thanks

Hello matey, been there and done that Ouch  My T of similar vintage had a damaged rad when I got it.

As I recall the captive nuts turn in the plastics? You just have to get them undone anyway you can I'm afraid.  Years ago I had my Sv 1000s Alloy rad repaired by Wrexham Radiators but it was very expensive, like around £160 ten years ago and I don't think they're still there!

With the T it was cheaper to buy a new Chinese Shocked  competition rad, think I paid something like £110 for that.

It was delivered within a week but needed some slight fettling to mount as the brackets were not as precisely welded as OEM though,I ended up by using new stainless studs for mounting the plastic side ears.

Great rad but the trouble is constantly removing the dead flies from the polished alloy matrix

If yours is leaking somewhere accessible it might by possible to ally braze it with one of those diy kits. That would be my preferred option, followed by sending it away for repair then a copy rad as a last resort as they are not a total plug and play option.

Cheers Ian. Yes my local honda/suzuki/yam dealer can fix it or I can send it to griff to be done. He said £50 or something. I'm seriously considering flogging it anyways as I don't use it and money's tight. Got a heap of dosh to throw at car so maybe bike gotta go. Apart from 2 bolts on top where are the ones at the bottom?

Ah,ok.  Things have moved on since those days then

Can't remember much of the details tbh,it was over a year ago I fitted mine.

Here's a parts fiche for the time being  http://www.ultimateparts.net/aprilia/c.php?i=24773

I'll be out in the garage later so will refresh my memory then and get back to you if that's ok?

I think the lower mounts are on plastic outrigger legs,I found anything with the nuts held captive in the plastics was prone to turning due to the crappy fasteners used (or more possibly the lack of any anti seize/lube on assy)

In fact you've reminded me I need to replace the two hoses and clips on my rad, thank you Clap

I know where you're coming from regarding lack of use,I should move my Mille on really as it's only taking up garage space, now got no time or money for exotic trackdays since retirement so it's just sitting there on stands getting in the way.

Only been out on the T two or three times this year and still got jobs I want to do on it but never get round to.

Thank you Ian again. Stupid question cos I've not been out to bike in while . Are the bottom bolts visible or do I have to take other bits off to get to them?
I don't know what the T is worth,  25000 mileage and standard bits also. £3600 with rad working couple hundred less with it as it is? Oil and filter here also ready for oil change. Tbh I might just want shot like.

I'm probably not the best person to ask to ask price wise,I gave £2900 for my Jan 2009 registered R a year ago with slightly less mileage.

I think the lower mounts should be visible although I'd need to check to be sure, I'll pm you when I've been out to the garage later
