Hi folks - my '05 fighter turned over last Saturday but wouldn't fire up.

I've put in new plugs, battery and have a new K&N filter arriving tomorrow.

Tried this evening with the current filter - after a few sessions of throttle and choke the bike eventually fire up however I stopped after about 10 seconds being courteous to my neighbours - Mivv cone not overly quiet!

I'll try again tomorrow early evening - as the start up this evening seemed a bit protracted, any clues beyond plugs and battery please? The bike was running well a week ago - first time start up, never an issue.

No alarm to drain the battery although I will be fitting one.

Thank you in advance for any advice folks.

Roger

The ideal start up procedure is do not touch the throttle ,pull the choke /cold start lever about halfway and prod the starter if all is well it should burst into life

Have you upgraded the starter cables and earth's ?

10 year Old bikes with barely adequate standard wires....

Are you hooking the battery up to a tender? Possibly dodgy fuel?

If you need cables once you’ve checked them for corrosion, heat damage and mechanical damage, give me a shout. I’ve designed these for a while now specifically for Aprilia’s and 220CCA batteries.
Forum members get discounted rates too.

I would buy your cables from Johnboy (Above) as many members on here have used them and proved their worth, including myself. Why buy from a random ebay link (Not saying there is anything wrong with them mind) when you can buy a known product from a forum member. With Johnboys kit you also get upgraded cabling for the two 30A fuses all cheaper than that ebay ad.

+1 for John's cables.

Fitted them to my RSV and Ducati. Noticeably better cranking performance. Could be the difference in starting or not if your batt is ever less than tip top.

+ 1 to what Spoonz said. I had a set on my 00 Mille. It cured all of my starting issues. If I get the hot start issue on my RSV4T I wont hesitate to fit a set to it.

Hi folks - sorry for the delay in responding - been away with work. Thank you so much for all replies. New battery, plugs and air filter seems to have sorted everything. I am going to take the bike into Griff soon as there appears to be a slight power band dip when hard accelerating in 6th at 70mph upwards - initial throttle response good however there is a very slight dip and then pull - it could be the Mivv can - I've got a standard so will swap and run to see what happens!
