At the end of last season i put the Millie off the road and that was it for 6 months, really wanted something else to stay out on but didn't have the cash at the time to buy a winter hack but now i do so I'm thinking about taking my time and get that other bike, probably spend around 1000 to 1500  on a Japanese 4 cylinder something so what would have ? was thinking early ZZR1100, Thunderace ect

oh and how would you broach the subject buying a second bike with the wife as

A) she doesn't  know I've the money ...yet.
B) She thinks the one bikes an extravagance for how often it's used
C) She will go ape sh*t

Falco or tuono but as I already have a second falco it would be the tuono. I sold mine the idea that one was for commuting and offset the loss in value of the miles on the other one

Decent falco well within your budget and an excellent commuter I did 20000 in one year on one if mine

I've only just reduced back to down to one bike. I normally have a 400 for thrashing a it on. Good fun, cheap enough and something different. I'm only 5'9" ish and pretty slim mind so they fit me ok!

Similar idea Red, something totally different to the Mille - Ducati Scrambler? Too expensive but that would be the thought process.

I have 2 bikes,Tuono and a Yz426f for arsing about on offroad but it is road legal.
If it was another road bike for sh*tty weather it would be a bandit/hornet type thing i think.
As for getting it past the other half i don't get it if something is needed for house car etc then we sort that, apart from that i work long hours and earn my money so i spend it on what i want.

I picked this up cheap last year off a mate who'd left it to die in his garden. Plan was to fix it up and sell on for a profit. Found it lovely to ride and a total change from the Ape. After some negotiations with the wife its taken up permanent residence in the shed. Fitted a full Akra and QAT over the winter and goes like f**k now.

Ktm Superduke 1290r, I've really grown to love V twins and as Aprilia saw fit to stop making them the SDr would be a great 2nd bike in the garage

sv650 or 1000, jap reliability a great v twin motor, decent enough handling and cheap to buy/mod using gsxr bits. Had a k6 650s before my first ape, they can really hustle with the big boys on bendy bits

Due to arthritis and a prolapsed disc I need a comfortable second bike as I can only do short trips and track days on my RSVR so I went for an '04 Fazer 1000.
It's comfortable over a long distance, pretty quick but the most amazing thing is the engine, it will pull beautifully from 25mph in 6th, it 's like a "twist & go" scooter and does almost 200mls on a tankfull.
Doesn't handle like the RSVR but as a second bike it's brilliant.

If I had the money I would without hesitation buy a 1299 Panigale R. I am considering buying an R1 as a second bike. Might not be this year but you never know if the right bike comes up at the right price.

Ideally something old and british, but seeing as we is on a budget innit, an Enfield Bullet for me just for total contrast to the Mille, slow and handles like crap! Still fancy one though.
Life aint about the destination, life's about the journey. That's why we ride!

Suppose its just going to be down to price, distance from home and condition, don't want to spend a fortune fixing something up, just buy and ride.. .. i like the idea of something completely different from the Mille.. a big old XL 600, there's one for sale on eaby where i stay buts its needing some work and its still £1500

Still would have a big old ZZR or 9R had the E1 version for a few years and loved that bike. sold it to a mate who promptly wrote it off.. the knob

Roll on Wednesdays Scottish service day.. weathers to be decent too

KTM 640 LC4 supermoto for me. Would be a hoot as a winter hack and completely different from the Mille. As for a reason to give the wife,  just  blame the cold  being hard on your back and say you need something more upright until it warms up LOL
If you can't get it going with bungee cords and electrician's tape, it's serious
