He changed history with his changing the business from 0 motorcycles made to over 400,000 a year in 20 years ! A film should be made of his winner takes all idea of winning on the race track and selling bikes on a Monday, beating the Japanese more times than not.....

It's got a lot worse post 2004 when piaggio took over. Most of the problems were due to the crap importers who just didn't do after service. Most motorcycle new sales in the uk is well below the standards it should be.

Yeah..agree.
However, BMW, Triumph, Ducati and the 'BIG 4' have all got their stuff together over the last 4 or 5 years.
Piaggio a/s service is dire by comparison.
These days with bikes so readily available on PCP/Contract hire etc...you'd think they'd have got on top of it.
BMW would take away a franchise in a heartbeat if they thought it was damaging their service proposition.
And here's the irony...BMW have worse reliability figures per 100 bikes than Piaggio.
