Anyone familiar with the Pondo-Corwen racetrack road will now be aware of the average cameras?

Here's the thing....when travelling from East to West (Pondo to Corwen) the cameras from the roundabout to Bryn Eglwys are front facing.....
Also, when travelling back from Corwen towards the Pondo....they are front facing too back up to Bryn Eglwys.

Jus' sayin'  Wink

Any knowledge of the ones on the Evo triangle Keith?

There are two new posts just past the Bylchau junction and as far as I could see none on the leg to Cerrigudrudion so I'm assuming there are more on the Pentrefoalas leg?

The ones I've seen are facing both ways on one pole and the other pole has two different units facing up the road towards the moors.

And surely the Pondy/Corwen ones could still be used as evidence as they would still collect a reg no at either the start or end marker and could be referenced back from that?

No mate, but they're just the thin edge of the wedge. I've read that N.Wales are set to install 500 miles of av cams over the next few years. Seriously cheap these days...5 years ago, installation was £1.2M per mile. New technology has reduced that to £80K per mile...and the price is falling...

Sure to be.

Jesus lads it's worse and worse it's going to get, I live in Ireland where they don't have those average cameras, yet.....
But the amount of speed camera vans and unmarked traffic cars around where I live is a pain in the arse, not to mention now half the cars on the road have dash cams as well. Now I don't act the fool on the bike but I spend more time looking in the mirrors and at the speedo these days than where I'm going. I'm not joking, a vstrom 650 with be grand for the speed I do on the road now and I could find plenty gravel roads to take it off road.
There's only one track in  the south and one in the north, the closest in the south is still 3 hours away so a track bike isn't really an option.

Unfortunately we live in the most spied upon country in the world. More cameras watching us than even China or n Korea.
I suppose the best way to enjoy the evo triangle now is pull over past the first camera and have a break whilst 'checking the tyres' etc then you have the headroom to get enthusiastic.

This was always the way when touring if you ended up using the autoroute's to make some good progress. Average speeds are checked between joining and leaving so best to plan lunch somewhere in between.

But be careful, the average speed cameras can get you at ANY interval (Or combination of) between cameras. So:

- First to last camera
- First to second camera
- Second to third
- First to third
- First to fourth
- Second to fourth
etc etc

If you are really unlucky (And not paying any attention) they can get you for all of the above on one run!

It's the same fine for having no number plate (fixed £60) as it is for a small plate, not that I'm suggesting anything.😆

My mate got a new plate once and it was months after he fitted it that he realised that two of the letters had been transposed!

Messing with your plate is deffo a no go area.
If you get caught and if there's a sucessful prosecution you'll end up with a criminal conviction.
Your dishonesty will be in the public domain.
You won't get insurance, and you'll stuggle to get a decent job.
If you are already in a job which involves a limit of trust, council, finance, law etc, it's likely you can kiss it goodbye.
Not worth the risk.
Seriousy.

Plate security is one thing I check before every ride as twice now I've found the plastic nuts coming loose and the plate flapping around.

Loctite is now in use for security

I just try and stay inside the limits these days ( ok,so sometimes they're + vat Wink) but only for short bursts and always when it seems clear to do so.

On the backroads roads I tend to ride 60 is quite exciting enough, sometime too exciting for comfort.

Somewhere like the Brennig run it's very difficult to keep speeds that low but given there are so many places for a sneaky camera unit to lay in waiting to ambush it's for the best,it does make for a more relaxing ride overall as well.

That was a genuine story not a recommendation, plate makers can get stuff wrong just like the rest of us. He still had his receipt and it stated the correct reg no.
