Ok here goes... anyone looking to buy one should already know alot of rsvr's have very low mileage due to battery going flat and it resetting the clocks. I purposely found one that hadn't and shown the right millege. After owning the bike and a school boy error getting the clocks wet and ruining the LCD screen I've had to source a new set. Plugged in today and mileage on new clocks shows 0. I could send both clocks away for a price and have the millege transferred to new but what are the chances they won't re zero in post on way back. I am I worrying for no reason... are people put off by not genuine mileage shown??

Am I right in saying it's only a problem on gen II bikes, something about not having the key in the ignition when reconnecting the battery. Isn't the mileage recorded in the UK as part of the MOT.

Removing the battery with the key in the ignition was one  cause noted several years ago  - - ie incorrect battery removal procedure.

If you know the milage when it reset  just ask you MOT Tester to add it into the  Notes section of the MOT form .  It will then be there for the next MOT  and keep it in as a note till you sell the bike .

Helps if you have a happy MOT tester . Thumbs Up

Not had it happen because of a flat battery but twice due to incorrectly disconnecting the battery and leaving the key in. I know better now and not had it on either of my Gen2 bikes over many years and several batteries. Also worth noting that when you reconnect the battery turn the key on and dont start the bike for 15/20 seconds, use the time to set the clock and shift light. Then turn off without starting, then back on and fire her up. This prevents the ecu going into some weird recovery mode and draining the battery completely within a day!

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left
