Being as though my good friend Warren/ Hemi has the copyright on "Ooops and Whoops" I'm having "oh very deary me" and associated words of that configuration or sentiment.....
Soooo... the deposit is down.... It's going through the workshop and having new reservoirs, clutch and belts, it's just got new tyres fitted in pics etc. (you'll see the clutch is out in the pics) Can't wait to get it home. I will never get rid of my gen 1, you guys know that for sure. This bike is for riding not modding. Having said that... I'm going to replace the exhaust heatshield with carbon and the white side covers on the rads that look so out of place. Plus Oberon small bar end mirrors and some rad guards, as they're vulnerable. I think that's it. Found out I have yet another bulging disc in my back, despite having lower vertibrae fused and a disc already removed. I have to spend as much time on bikes as I can. One of the good things about this bike for me, is that the seat to foot rest height has much more room. I might be losing my left leg in the not too distant future, as there's not much more that they can do. On the Mille it is as bent as it will go. It won't stop me riding it, or riding bikes, I will just find a way around these things....... But one of the main reasons for the bike is that I've always wanted one and I need to get out of a rut I've been stuck in and esp after my Mum died in March this year. It makes more sense than trying to ride a sports bike all the time and now I have to spend as much time in the saddle, because the reality is, that one day I can't. Maybe sooner that later as we all take our mobility for granted. I remember the days when one had a 350LC then graduated to bigger bikes - but the point being... a lid/jacket/gloves/ denim jeans and went hell for leather. Yes kids, the way it was in the 80's. Taking that recipe of not wearing all my race leathers etc on this bike, I have Simpson/Berik jacket and boots/gloves/Dainese kevlar jeans to recapture those days of simplicity regards effing off, just giving it some sh*te and pointing your middle finger at the world, then passivly loving your dear ones upon your return. So this is the bike for me. I don't want a Tuono RSV4. If I went for another sportsbike, in fact, currently it would be the R1 hands down. I give you the Ducati 1098S Streetfighter (with the Ohlins, Brembo, carbon and Marchesini forged wheels which all cost 4K more than the base model) As said, the clutch etc is out at the moment but it's now been promised to fast track it through the workshop and detail it to my exacting standards lol Rock and roll |

Very nice Rick Never ridden one but spent a lot of time riding with a mate on a 1098 s tricolure and that bike was VERY capable. It even handled properly after being introduced to Ktek. I think that's the only duc I could fancy, Mutley's are a very good bike but I could never own a bike that ugly |

Nice one lads, knew you could help me spend some money ha ha
Some great comments, gizza go, James whacking off, all sorts lol. I agree with you Warren and Simon about life not being a rehearsal. David, looks better in the flesh as you say. When they wheeled it out of the workshop, I caught my breath and may... or may not have done a little sex wee. Those curves. It's stance I kind of felt guilty about buying it tbh at first. But friends and Mari and you guys all say to go for it. Certainly going to brighten my days a bit for sure Ian for sure about the Mutley. very capable, but not for me. Cheers for the thumbs up Adam, Coop and Snowman. |

So, made a few small changes to the Duc.
Rad Guards are a must on these esp the lower one. I bought some Evotech ones on Ebay. You can imagine my surprise when R&G guards turned up! I was straight onto the seller who said he had made a mistake with his stock. I could have a refund and keep the guards, just not to give hime bad feedback! Fair enough, though I prefer the Evotech design and fitment Got some bar end mirrors to get rid of the ant antenna standard ones. The stock seat was slippy and I was hitting the tank under hard braking. Found a seat for sale that had been re-covered with a tricolour striped grippy one. Much better. Carbon fiber.... () Being the S model, it had cf front fender/ hugger/ chainguard and cam belt covers already. Decided not to go full carbon bodywork like the Ape, as I'm enjoying the red atm, but in carbon I've added: Headlight protector ( takes about 30 secs to remove and uses no sticky 3m pads, just loosen 2 screws and it slides out), oversize air intakes, side panels, underseat and monoshock panels, radiator sides, tank key guard, speedo binacle, bolt on swingarm cover, rear brake res cap, front sprocket cover, exhaust heatshield, cf heel guard Got 2 cf clutch covers - open and closed. I'll put the open one on when I've changed to a proper slipper clutch, not just an anodized pressure plate and spring caps. A few other bits in the post - cf generator and water pump cover and a cf exhaust hanger, so I can remove the rear pillion pegs and brackets to clean up the rear end. I've stuck to 2 brands, Ilmberger and genuine Ducti Performance parts. Started looking out for some BST cf wheels, though it has forged Marchesini fitted. I plan on some smaller led indicators. I've got some spare Brembo RCS masters, but the original brakes (M4 calipers, radial masters and 330mm discs) are fierce and it doesn't need them tbh. I'd like some carbon LSL Superbike bars and some CF reservoirs, as not keen on anodized ones. I'll change the chain and sprockets when it's needed for gold DID and AEM quick change sprocket/ flange/red cushdrives. I've had some great rides this summer and loving being naked! Don't have very good pics yet... |

Thank you mate indeed I have!
It’s fantastic I must admit. Trouble is it needs its first service and earliest I can get an Aprilia to do it is second week in October! I double checked with two dealers and both said it must go to a dealer for warranty as no one else can upload the info and whilst I could go elsewhere and I have a warranty issue, I’d need to do as Griff said and ‘jump through hoops’ to prove the garage as capable of doing the work. Which AP is more than capable of but it’s what I have to suffer sadly. On the plus I’m out tomorrow on the Gen2 so it’s not too bad eh!

Arrrghh!! One of my dogs just dropped his toy on my keyboard and deleted my reply
The warranty is a bit awkward isn't it? Finding someone you can trust etc. The cam belts are due on the Duc and it's going to Ducati Cambridge who I bought it off as that was included in the deal. I trust the chief mechanic there as he races at Santa Pod and I've got to know him quite well through that. |

Hi Warren Oooh, now that's set the cat amongst the pigeons!! I was looking at the other styles the 7 Tec or the Diamonds to match the Ape, also have never made my mind up on the candy colours.... But I do like the Rapid Tek!! I'd very much value and respect your opinion -Do you think it would look ok against the red of the Duc and the rest of the carbon buddy? |

I do but I’d call Giles at hps and ask him if you could go up and try them next to the bike, he’s a nice guy to deal with. I keep looking at them for my mutleystrada so please save me, I’ve spent enough lately.

Thanks Ian, it's quite brutal all round tbh. 3rd gear 7000rpm, crack the throttle and up she comes! You can dial it out by having the traction controll set at above 3, but I love it, so keep it turned down. I'm pleased with it and no regrets. Trouble is it fits me so well and it's become another keeper like my gen1 - it's easier to use for my aging injuries -hence getting some BST's like I've got on that. The Ape with it's wheels, Brake Tech discs, Race Torx adjusters, M4 front calipers and Brembo Supersport rear caliper.... There's a pic of the Pro Fiber sa covers for you Ian. I want the same kind of spec for the Ducati (it already has M4's), I know I'm fickle, but it's a bike I don't want to get off when I'm on it and I know I'll love it even more.... The thing is, I said this bike was for riding not modding, but I broke that vow a long while back. It can't have any mods that keep it off the road... is my new oath lol. I'm not big boring it or any some such, it's quick as it is. Duc quoted 167 kilo's dry for it and it feels very light, so not arguing with that.... "Adding lightness" in terms of the wheels will be the icing on the cake for me. |

They were the only thing I've compromised slightly on James. I wanted some CRG Lanesplitters, but they were out of stock, so fitted these generic ones off Ebay for now. Solid as a rock and you can mount the mirrors in another position instead of out of the ends, you can have them mounted amidships on the "bar end slider" bit. They were just under 20 quid on Ebay. The reflection is a bit smaller though, which I'm not so keen on, so reckon I will still get the CRG's at some point. I'll try and find a link |
