Hello all.
I have one of those really annoying things that occasionally happen to us all like - Instead of my beloved starting, all I get from her is a click from under the right underside of the seat panel. It sounds like a relay click. Please help me. Thanks.

The click will be from the starter solenoid.
Either it's faulty which isn't uncommon or the batt is less than 100% which is a must for starting on a big vtwin. Much less than 100% and it will likely not start due to the load on the battery from the starter trying to overcome the compression.
if it's not on an optimate between use i would invest in one along with a higher amperage Yamaha starter solenoid. Edited by Spoonz - 27 Dec 2010 at 19:05 |

Thanks for that spoonz. I keep it on an optimate. It started 1st time today, but after that it didn't want to know. So maybe I should invest in a new battery first and take it from there. Thank's for the help.
ps Nice roads round your way.

Hello , believe it or not, twins start easier when cold, keep battery topped up and try to run bike once a week, test solenoid by connecting wires together (sparks) if it happens again to eliminate that problem, batteries tend to break down (cells) in cold weather

Thanks for that Joe. I get scared when it comes to electrics. Whenever I start playing it tends to end in a big flash and a new wiring loom!

Had a few but not that keen on them to be honest much as i would like to take credit for your wind issue.
Unless the wind smells of Gherkins and pickled red cabbage then maybe it's me.

I think the same version fits many Yamaha models. Give Griff @ aprilia performance a ring. Apriliaperformance.co.uk
He stocks the uprated solenoids
