Hello everyone, wanted to introduce myself as i am currently awaiting delivery of my new RSV4 RF, it will be my first V4 so am all excited. Over the years have had lots of bikes R1's X 2, Fireblades X 4, GSXR1000 X 2,  my last bike was MV Agusta F3 800 what a fantastic looking bike and the sound was awesome, but i felt  was a big disappointment to own and ride, so in she goes P/X for aprilia. Can you offer some advise on the RSV4 in terms of running it in, are they expensive to own, anyway that's it from me for the moment.

the mv needed constant attention......
every couple of weeks the rear brake would stop working, full afternoon to bleed it. The quickshifter had a mind of its own, sometimes you get a gear sometimes a false neutral. Hope there are no such problems with the Aprilia?

Hi and welcome. You will fall in love with the RSV4 RF. i have! Make sure you get the nuts on the rear sprocket torqued up to 50Nm. at the first service or they have a tendency to come loose. There is also a fix it gig from Aprilia to stop it happening again, ask your service agent.

Run in is for the first 1000km. I was told not to rev it too hard for too long and ride a route with variable gradients and speeds. You can set the red line where ever you want on the dash menu. I set it to around 6,000 rpm if I remember correctly. It's no biggy as the big is pretty quick even at these revs and the miles will fly by.....Don't tape up the lights for track days. They're plastic and the tape melts them. Bugger!  Tighten the rear sprocket nuts to 50nM. They can work loose otherwise (see below). Mine did and wore a grove in the swing arm before I noticed. Happy to help anytime if I can.

thank you all for your words of advice. The bike has finally arrived so waiting for the 1st Sept to get out on it. Will use the next couple of days to carefully go through and recheck the torque on nuts and bolts. Had a similar experience with my old MV Agusta, the nut that holds the rear sprocket in place should have been torqued to 200 NM, mine was hand tight and the only thing holding it in place was the circlip!!!! have ordered Austin Racing GP1, but having second thoughts as have heard they can cause problems. Any one heard anything bad about them?
