hi all
I am looking into upgrading my battery to a lithium Ion battery and was looking for any recommendations as to which brand to buy. Also if there is any history with charging issues, what with the dodgy charging systems our bikes have.
Thanks.

I use a relatively cheap JMT unit and I have never had any issues on a 2009 reg Tuono. I just leave the bike unattended for months at a time and don't have any trouble.

Shido ltx14 bs lion, used them for a few years now with no problems, you also need a lithium charger for them.

True, I got my battery and a charger as a package deal, never taken the charger out of its box yet though, not even for an initial charge.
I was sceptical at first but once you've tried the L ion battery you won't want a heavy lead acid again.

another cheapo JMT, only just got the bike up and running so can't really comment on it's performance, but it starts it OK so that's a positive, the biggest thing you'll notice is the weight or lack if I didn't know any better I'd swear it was an empty box!!! it's the best bang for buck weight saver there is..

Everybody thinks that LOL
A decent set of cables probably weigh more than the battery

You shouldn't have any problems just leaving the bike for weeks at a time (alarms not taken into account).

Although I've not left mine as long as this present time without being started. I think it'll be over two months by the time I get back.

Put a JMT battery on my bike yesterday.

Bike had been sitting for about 3 years, put the battery on without charging it and the battery did it's job. After fresh fuel going through the system, clearing whatever gunk had built up and topping up the lack of oil.

Everyone who saw the battery didn't believe it was for a bike this size. They said either a ped or an electric car for kids.
