[QUOTE=Diablo]Hey, that's some bike you have there mate
Loving the swinger and the Akra's. Did you put the swinger in? You have all the options open to you for custom building a system using modified Ducati pipes etc with the room you've got because of the SSA. Spot on with the Gen2 cans -51.5mm iirc. Yes your right. The cans use the straps, bent over at an angle to bolt into the undertray holes -where the bobbins are, using the bobbins as spacers. Some were supplied with spacers instead. Obviously you need to add the spacer width to get the size for the longer bolts you need. Thread lock them as well (medium strength). The similar Gianelli system had a bracket that bolted to the undertray and hung the cans a bit lower, I'm sure you know all this. Granny sucks eggs Do a thread with your bike, when you're ready bud, looks very interesting *Edit* I see no can straps on yours? where/ how are they fitted? Thanks mate, no i didn't put the swinger on it's made by a company called Metmachex when i spoke to them they said they'd only ever done it to 2 RSV's so i guess it's pretty unique, one of the reasons i bought it unseen off ebay as i guessed if you'd spent that much money getting it done the chances are you'd have looked after the rest of it. I was originally going to do some custom pipes to get the cans right under the seat 916 style, but the renegade headers came up local to me and cheap so i settled for them, i might change them one day but they are good for now. My trouble with doing a thread is my bike is never quite finished, and the cans were damaged so need a bit of polishing to make them look good. There's always something else you want to do! I took ages to figure out how to mount the cans, yes they are fitted with straps now, not int he pic as i think that was taken when i was just putting it all together. I was going to get a bracket made to fit the cans but then happened to see someone who had fixed them to the undertray holes and that seemed easier and neater and brings the cans quite far up and in looking more like underseat pipes. I've had it 6 years now and have done most things i wanted to, big boot, renegade airbox, modded collector etc, think all that's left is Colin edwards tubes and a big bore but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Keep up the good work on your bike, only trouble is it gives me more things to spend my money on.

Hi Alwaduk
The swinger is even more interesting if only 2 were ever made! Totally understand about the thread. There have been a few work in progress threads as well though. I joined in 2010, just a few months before you, with my standard RSV and only just made this thread and put these pics up! I should add some more pics of bits of it, and the other side of the bike as well. These ones were rushed on my phone and the light was going. I've seen Futura SSA conversions, but interested to see yours with the Metmachex. I remember a few Metmachex years back and JMC, remember them? My mate had a GSX1100 Katana 20 or more years ago and JMC did an overbraced/underbraced swing arm, with monoshock conversion That also might have been the only one they did. Certainly the first. Some scrotes broke into the garage and nicked it, never to be seen again I took some photos of how the Renes mount for someone on FB. Sounds like you've got it all sorted though. You can get Edwards copy intakes from Gez who makes the Jester kits iirc. Tel : 01274 636716 Mob : 07886 056812 Email : info@jester68evokit.com Email : jester_6@hotmail.co.uk |

Cheers Phil, as you know, can't wait. It's like waiting for the planets to align! I need my back to be good on the day and the weather to be somewhere in between fu.. freaking hot and pi.. precipitating But I'll be in touch soon for a bit of a blast. And there was me thinking I'd be finished and ready for the start of Summer Why do we have to have a winter anyway? Should just be Spring, Autumn, Summer. |

Thanks for the info i'm sure i'll get round to getting some edwards tubes at some point. I've still got some more carbon bits to fit but just the standard stuff as it only came with plastic even though it is an R model. And like a lot on here i'm always keeping my eye out on e ebay for a 'bargain' Keep up the good work and keep the pics coming. Hope your back is good enough and the weather plays ball so you can get out this year. I didn't get out at all last year as we were doing a massive house extension and riding the bike always takes second place when you have 3 kids who need their bedrooms finishing! Alan

Thank you NickyBoy me ol mucker!
Gotta have a ride with you soon as well mate. I think the good weather might run out before we get the chance this year though But deffo next year. I'll bring some tissues, as I've always admired your bike from afar Also your hot red wheels! Now I'm not going to copy you, as we all like to be a bit different and to me copying is a bit unfair. But I do have a cunning plan ... |

The best form of defense is attack! I was going to reply "Yes I'm sure -because you can still see what colour it is...."
But some would believe it and it may sully my reputation |

Actually Mark, the look of the intakes initially bothered me, as I preferred the later shape rather than early.
The shape doesn't bother me at all now. Looks a bit more purposeful in my eyes. Just have to adjust graphics to suit. Were the Sebimoto ones not like the later ones. I know the MotoForza ones are. But poss compatibility probs with stock panels, unless you go the whole hog with their bodywork. |

Yes Andi's one. Was a bargain as you say. He's a true gent The renegades, I registered an interest when I thought the Arrows were gone. Thinking that I would add it to my collection and sell off the one I liked least. Think it was overpriced by £50. I will probably sell a set of Renegades now (and keep a set with modded collector) to make room for the Arrows. Do you think it's possible to re-sleeve the Arrow cans? Mhp or someone? |

Loving the quote Phil
I really like the look of the Renegades, so I'll miss that (I'll still have a set though). But I would need something like the Arrows anyway for the big bore. And they're better all round really and look very nice also. Plus none of the tight fit scenario of the Rene's I would like to re-sleeve the Arrows if it's possible, as one had a bit of heat damage from some loose packing. They're fine to use as is, one with a darker stain that can be noticed up close... but i do like things to be as near perfect as poss. They might be a funny shape for a re-sleeve, not sure. Made up with them though. A bargain price from a jolly nice bloke. Can't wait to get them. Been after some for a while. |
