Had a similar incident a few years ago driving to work, narrow country lane, two horses/riders side by side with no intention of moving over, I slowed to walking pace when one of the horses booted the side of the car, when I got out one of the riders said if the horse kicks out you’ll end up in hospital , I replied if you get of that horse you’ll    kin end up in hospital. He declined my offer. Luckily for him it kicked a thick rubber trim just above the wheel arch so no damage.

I can sympathise with you there.  Was threatened by a gobby young woman with an extremely potty mouth and temper to match when I considerately pulled over on my (now gone) very loud Harley on tickover in order that I didn't scare her horse.  It went schitso' anyway and nearly threw her which shut her up for a few seconds before she screamed abuse at me.  It was misbehaving long before I got near as I approached from some way off before pulling the clutch in so my approach was on tickover.  I told her she had a disgusting mouth and temper, then though sod it, revved the crap  out of the bike and zipped off leaving her to try and get her animal under control again.  Riders like that shouldn't be  on the roads if they can't control their horses.  It was the one and only time I've ever met such an ill disciplined and inconsiderate bad tempered rider.  Pushbikes scare the crap out of them as they can't hear them coming so it comes as a total shock when one zips past a couple of feet away.  Seen a few examples of riders almost being thrown due to cyclists who don't use their bells to warn of approach.  I'm usually far more mannerly towards horse riders than cyclists though as had far too many dealings with too many t**sers on bikes.

Me too. Cyclists riding in groups often don't even look ahead, to concerned with minimising their wind resistance

Bike now here and first 30 miles put on yesterday to sort out what's what.  Resulted in removal of Ohlins steering damper which could have been used as a pile driver.  That improved handling to the RSV I know and love.

Since then, the seller has offered to take back the Ohlins and have it rebuilt for me FOC which I wasn't expecting.  Result #2!  Just wanted to give him a shout out because in all of the dealers I've bought from over 35 years, his service and attitude stands out as the best bar none.  The guy's a star, goes the extra mile and deserves every penny he earns.  Paul at Two Wheel Nation...he specialises in quality used Italian superbikes and has a mouth watering list of exotica in his stock.  A rare breed and he understands Aprilia being a big enthusiast himself.

Onto the bike.  I'll drop some photos here once I've attended to some cosmetics but basically it's a good'un with low miles. Suspension is good, engine is good and cosmetics are what you'd expect for a bike that's been ridden in that there's a few boot scrapes and the odd chip in the paintwork but overall it's a stunner.

The Arrow pipe gives a nice throaty deep growl but isn't as ear shatteringly loud as my old race Akra.  RP58 EPROM still intact and fuels well with the Arrow.  no other performance mods.

The side stand is OEM and has to go, to thanks to Sponx at AP, parts ordered yesterday arrived this morning including a fireblade stand and a 150A starter solenoid.  Battery is new so I'll change that when it eventually dies for an up rated one.

The original owner took the bike completely apart and had the frame sprayed satin black a la Colin Edwards frame, and had the body panels decalled and sprayed Aprilia racing silver all bar infill panels and side panels.

He then put on new Aprilia decals and had them lacquered over.  Oddly, he ditched the OEM carbon winglets for plastic ones sprayed silver and sprayed the rear light surround silver too.

I'm fitting on new carbon ears as I want it as standard, and want the contrast of black on silver to break up the looks and add matching contrast.  Also swapping out the light surround for a black one (carbon to come when I can afford it).

The odd mark on the swingarm I'll respray today to tidy it up.

OZ Wheels have the odd chip in paint from tyre changes.  If anyone knows of a matching touch up paint pen I'd be very grateful if you pinged a link to this thread!

First photos later today once I've done the initial transformation Smile

Yes.  There's an RSVR on Ebay with 1500 miles from new on I think a 2003 plate.  They want close to 8K for that!  That would be one bought as a museum piece as you'd be too scared to ride it and drop the value.  Good rideable cared for RSVRs with low miles can still be had for just under £4K....for now.

I liked my Eddy rep but it lost some of the charm and low end grunt of the standard Mille and RSVR.  I think I prefer my latest Gen 1 RSVR for the road.  For the track, the Eddy rep had it as it had a little more top end rush.

Right....repairs mostly completed and lots of carbon bling added.

New carbon instrument cluster surround fitted to match the front cowling; new carbon ears courtesy of ff.carbon.com (brilliant people to deal with and delivery from Germany in 3 days);  new carbon swingarm protectors;  Silver tail cluster surround replaced with black one.

New crash bungs and R&G bar ends;  anodised gold replacement master cylinder caps to match Ohlins;  new black seat hump to be fitted thanks to Griff (not shown).  New headlamp protector (ugly but essential).  New rad guards arrived but haven't fitted them yet.  Rear alloy bobbin on nearside replaced with steel Abba one to allow front wheel lift kit to be used.

Steering damper removed.  More trouble than its worth.  Flush front indicators, tail tidy and smaller rear indicators.  Aprilia Titanium race exhaust hanger and Arrow "factory" open pipe (sounds awesome).  RP58 currently fitted so may change for a Forza 100 if of benefit.

New 'blade swing arm and 150A starter solenoid.  I wasn't sure about the all silver appearance to begin with but the contrast with the black frame (seat hump and carbon ears) really works...looks great in the flesh!

I wasn't sure about the non standard paint job but it really has grown on me as it's less fussy than the standard graphics.  I just have to be careful not to over-do it.  Purely by coincidence, the colour appears to be a match for Lexus silver! (car in background).

Really smart looking bike that mate. I had the same arrow can on a racebike I had and it was the best sounding ape I've ever heard even nicer than the Tigs on my Gen2 and they take some beating. Enjoy and I'm pleased it's all fixed up again.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

The bike does sound epic with that Arrow can.  The only thing now wanting replaced is the oil tank which took a heavy bash and is badly dented although it's still functional.  The cost and effort has been eye watering so far, so lesson learned.  No-one gets to ride the bike except me from now on, as it is one thing to offer payment for damage but those accidentally causing it don't have the bother of the true expense in time and effort to get everything straight again.

Must admit, the all silver look has grown on me as it's so less fussy than the original graphics and colour scheme which I always considered a bit too busy.  There's a certain beauty in simplicity and it's been done so well, I doubt it will affect value much, at least to me.  I would be asking top dollar if I was selling and there will always be someone who wants one prepared to pay for a good one, done well.
