Don’t know about other brands as I’ve only used these but they worked well.

Might get some but it pains to throw away stuff I've bought. I found with the cheap ebay stuff that by the time the solder had melted the rest of the thing had melted. Maybe the wrong solder used or maybe me, who knows?

Try using a lower temperature, will take a bit longer but the lower heat shouldn’t destroy the outer case.

Hi Jim
Off top of my head I can’t recall but when home can take pics possibly. However I’m pretty sure it’s just the two wires on the led lamp so one in, one out, so it doesn’t matter which one you attach to the other as the current just flows through it either way and the led lamp is just part of the circuit.

Hi mate,
yeah that makes sense, what threw me off is the new rear plate lamp from jtech has a live and a earth so i thought it was going to matter. you will have to forgive me i have never really done any wiring before and the other question i have is when i insert the wires through the bullet connecters do i put enough bare wire through so it can physically touch the bullet end of the opposite cable? does that make sense pratty question i know but i wont know until i know,

Think I’m following you Jim
The cable wire needs bare wire in contact with the connector. So long as the crimp piece (male) is crimped on the bare wire, the metal part carries current. The other connector (female) piece crimps in the same manner, and once they are pushed together the current goes through. Probably a bad description but have a google on you tube about crimping bullet connectors to put some images to my appalling description 😅

Actually LED's are polarity conscious so does matter which way around they are connected. Easy to forget that with a lifetime of using traditional bulbs.

I guess it's possible that the light unit has some diodes and is wired in such a way that makes it not matter - or as you say you were just lucky!
