they looked promising loads in testing last year then turned down the revs
have they got a new motor this year ?

It’s two fold. Firstly being a concession manufacturer they could develop the bike, engines etc which helps. And they have no testing limits so they had already tested the bike with the latest tyres and config which gave them a head start.
The second thing to note is they slowly dropped away time wise compared to the others as the test progressed and the others got a handle on tyres and changes. I could be wrong but I suspect business as usual come races. Maybe in the top 10 a bit more often but Espagaro’s comments in the press of podiums I think is a bit optimistic. Maybe in an unusual circumstance of drying track, right tyres sort of thing they could over achieve.
